Joe Catanese, the Director of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., has served as the college's Faculty Athletic Representative for the last 20 years. Dr. Catanese also serves as the chairman of the Northeast-10 Conference's Faculty Athletic Representative (F.A.R.) Council. In addition, he was a participant in the inaugural NCAA Division II F.A.R. Fellows Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Fellows Institute.
Dr. Catanese also founded the Academic Resource Center at Saint Anselm College in 1987. At the ARC, he oversees the peer tutoring and writing centers for the school's nearly 2,000 undergraduate students. At the center, he also conducts the College Achievement Program, a program designed to assist incoming students in making the transition to college.
A member of the Humanities department, Dr. Catanese serves as seminar leader in the College's nationally recognized Humanities Program, "Portraits of Human Greatness." In addition, he is a consultant with Campus Compact of New England, specializing in service learning in the Humanities.
Dr. Catanese founded Learning Consultants in 1982 and conducts learning skills seminars and workshops for secondary school educators and college-bound students.
Catanese holds a doctorate from Vanderbilt University and resides in Bedford, N.H., with his wife, Joanne. They have three grown children.
