Northeast-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week
Mike Adams, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Orchard Park, NY) - Carried a
no-hitter into the eighth inning in the opening contest at the NCAA
Division II Baseball Championships against Angelo State University.
Despite not figuring in the decision, yielded just two runs, one
earned, on a hit with five strikeouts in the outing.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kevin Rivers, Franklin Pierce (Fr., OF, Bristol, CT) - Hit .375
(3-for-8) with a run scored, home run and two RBI over two games at
the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships. Slugged .750 and was
2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI against Angelo State. Hit 1-for-3
against Southern Indiana.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Ranked fifth in last week's Collegiate
Baseball magazine Division II poll, the Ravens bowed out of the
2007 NCAA Division II Baseball Championships in Montgomery, Ala.,
in two games. Senior Vinny Pennell (Spencer, Mass.) became the
program's all-time hit leader with his 249th career hit against #11
Angelo State on Saturday. The Ravens belted a program-record 132
doubles this season. Franklin Pierce's 49 wins is a record for
Division II schools in the Northeast Region.
