Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Garrett Stenhouse, Bentley (So., 1B, Warwick, R.I.) - During a 3-2
week, hit .350 (7-20), slugged .900, drove in 10 runs and scored
six times. Homered three times, also had a triple and extended
hitting streak to seven games. Had six RBI in a 30-1 win over
Bridgeport, a game-tying two-run homer in an 8-6 victory against
the same team, and another two-run shot in a 7-3 victory over
American International.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
David O’Brien, Bryant (Fr., RHP, Whitman, Mass.) - Went 2-0
in three appearances, with wins over Mt. Olive and West Chester,
including a complete game 1-hitter at West Chester. Pitched a total
of 12 innings, allowing only two hits and one walk, while striking
out five.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Chris Hardy, Bentley (Fr., OF, Warwick, R.I.) - Hit .474 (9-19)
with six runs scored, three RBI, a double and a triple during a 3-2
week. Slugged .632 and had a .524 on base percentage. Hit safely in
every game, extending hitting streak to 10 games, and had three
multi-hit games, including two with three. Also scored four times
in a 30-1 win over Bridgeport.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Dillon Fontaine, American International (Fr., SP, Amenia, N.Y.) -
Pitched eight shutout innings, while striking out seven batters in
a 7-0 non-conference win over Bentley.
Pat O'Connor, Bryant (Jr., OF, Mattapoisette, Mass.) - Batted .375
(9/24), with two doubles and a home run, while slugging .583.
Scored seven runs, had five RBI and stole two bases. Also walked
six times, and reached base in 15-of-30 plate appearances.
Matt Anderson, Franklin Pierce (Sr., C, Medford, Mass.) - Hit a
combined .333 (6-for-18) with two runs scored, a home run, stolen
base and six RBI in a 6-0 week. Also threw out four potential
basestealers and picked off two baserunners. Had a game-winning
single in game two of Friday's sweep of Adelphi. Was a combined
4-for-8 with three RBI in double-header sweep of Dominican. Had a
two-run single which tied the game as the Ravens rallied from an
early three-run deficit.
Tyler Bishop, Franklin Pierce (Sr., RP, Milford, N.H.) - Picked up
a win and two saves out of the bullpen in a 6-0 week. Pitched a
perfect inning with two strikeouts for save in game two of a
doubleheader sweep of Adelphi. Pitched a scoreless ninth for the
save in game two of the sweep of St. Thomas Aquinas. Picked up a
win with two innings of work in game two of the sweep of
Dominican.
Brian Maloney, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Brockton, Mass.) - Pitched
nine scoreless innings over two appearances last week. Earned a win
with eight scoreless innings, scattering five hits with ten
strikeouts in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Dominican. Worked
a scoreless eighth inning in game two in a sweep of Adelphi.
Ted Haley, UMass Lowell (So., SP, Cranston, R.I.) - Allowed two
hits and no walks while striking out 11 in a complete game win over
Dowling, 4-0.
Peter Onorato, UMass Lowell (So., LF, Clarence Center, N.Y.) -
Batted .467 (7-15) with two doubles, two runs and one RBI in a 2-3
week. In the 5-16/8-6 split with Molloy, batted a combined 3-for-6
with one run. Also batted 3-for-6 with one run in the 8-4/4-0 sweep
of Dowling, and finished the week hitting 1-for-3 with a run in a
13-8 loss to Adelphi.
Ryan O'Rourke, Merrimack (So., SP, Worcester, Mass.) - Threw a
complete-game shutout, striking out 11, and allowing just three
hits in a 3-0 win over Saint Anselm
Jack Cawley, Pace (Sr., OF, Bronx, N.Y.) - Batted .444 (8-for-18)
with a double, triple, driving in three runs and scoring four times
in a 3-2 week. Hit 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an
RBI in a win over Purchase. Went 2-for-4 with a double in a win
over New Haven. Collected three hits in 10 at-bats with two runs
scored and two RBIs in a three game series against Wilmington.
Nick Barese, Saint Anselm (Sr., SP, Braintree, Mass.) - Threw a
complete game five-hitter against Merrimack earning a 2-1 victory.
Struck out nine and walked one.
Mike Diaz, Southern Connecticut (Jr., SS, Monroe, Conn.) –
Hit .412 (7-for-17) with seven runs scored, two doubles, a triple,
five RBI and three stolen bases over five games this past week.
Anthony Fiorillo, Southern Connecticut (Sr., DH, New Haven, Conn.)
– Hit .438 (7-for-16) with three runs scored, one double, one
homerun, five RBI and two stolen bases over four games this past
week.
Jim Fuller, Southern Connecticut (So., SP, Marlborough, Mass.)
– Went 1-0 in one start, pitched six shutout innings, gave up
one hit, walked nobody, hit a batter and struck out 11 against New
Haven.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: In Bentley’s final game of the
season in Florida, the Falcons pounded Bridgeport pitching for 30
runs, one shy of the school record, despite using wood bats.
Included was a 13-run third inning (also one shy of the Bentley
single game record) that featured two home runs by freshman James
Roche.
