Northeast-10 Player and Freshman of the Week
Derek Ingui, Franklin Pierce (Fr., DH, Sterling, Mass.) - Hit .444
(12-for-27) with 14 RBI, 10 runs scored, four doubles and two home
runs while slugging .815 in a 5-1-1 week. Also had a .515 on-base
percentage. Went 3-for-3 with an RBI in a tie with Pace, then went
4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored versus American
International. Drove in four runs and scored four in a doubleheader
sweep of Southern New Hampshire, then capped the week with a
walk-off grand slam against the Penmen.
Northeast-10 Co-Pitchers of the Week
Dan Lozeau, Bryant (Jr., SP, Pelham, N.H.) - Posted a 2-0 record
and a 0.00 ERA with two complete-game wins on the week. Allowed no
runs on just seven hits in 19 innings of work, striking out five.
Held opponents to a .109 batting average.
Kyle Davis, UMass Lowell (Fr., SP, Rochester, N.H.) - Went 2-0 with
21 strikeouts in two complete game shutouts in the team’s 6-1
week. Allowed just six hits and struck out 10 in a 3-0 victory at
Saint Rose and fanned 11 in a five-hit shutout in a 1-0 win over
American International.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Baillargeon, Assumption (Jr., 2B, Worcester, Mass.) - Batted
.586 (17-for-29, 8 RS, 2 2Bs, 8 RBI) and slugged .655 (19 TB) in a
4-4 week. Went 6-for-9 with 4 runs scored, two RBI, and a double in
a two-game series (1-1) against Stonehill; 2-for-2 with a run
scored and a double versus Southern Connecticut; and a combined
7-for-14 (.500) with three runs scored, six RBI, and five walks in
a four-game series (3-1) against Saint Anselm.
Jeff Barbale, Assumption (Jr., OF, Charlton, Mass.) - Batted .371
(13-for-35, 6 RS, 2B, 3 3B, 7 RBI) and slugged .571 (20 TB) in a
4-4 week. Went 3-for-5 with a run scored, a triple, and three RBI
in a home win over Stonehill. In a four-game series (3-1) against
Saint Anselm, went 8-for-19 (.421) with three RBI, four runs
scored, a double, and two triples. In game one of a home
doubleheader against Saint Anselm, pitched a complete game victory,
allowing just four hits, no walks, seven strikeouts, and an earned
run while going 3-for-6 from the plate with two triples.
Jarrod Marchesi, Bentley (Jr., SP, Peabody, Mass.) - During a 3-2
week, was 1-0 with a save and a 0.00 ERA in two appearances,
covering 10 innings. Allowed a total of nine hits and one unearned
run while striking out seven and not allowing a walk. Scattered
nine hits in a complete game 4-1 win over Saint Anselm, and
preserved a 5-2 win over Stonehill.
Nick Campbell, Bryant (So., OF, Raynham, Mass.) - Hit .500
(12-for-24) in a 5-1 week, driving in seven runs, with four doubles
and six runs scored while slugging .667. Was a perfect 5-for-5 in
stolen base attempts and posted a .552 on base percentage. Went
8-for-8 with three RBI, four runs scored and three doubles in a
pair of wins over Merrimack, slugging 1.375 with four stolen bases.
Started the week going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored
against Southern Connecticut.
Tyler Bishop, Franklin Pierce (Sr., RP, Milford, N.H.) - Went 1-0
with a 0.00 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work last week.
Came on in relief versus Pace and pitched 6.1 innings, giving up
one unearned run while striking out nine, then pitched a scoreless
ninth inning to earn the win against Southern New Hampshire.
Kevin Renaud, Franklin Pierce (Sr., OF, Southbridge, Mass.) - Hit
.429 (12-for-28) with eight RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and
a home run while slugging .607 in a 5-1-1 week. Went 2-for-4 with a
double, home run, three RBI and a run scored versus American
International, then went a perfect 8-for-8 with three RBI and two
runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Southern New Hampshire,
including a 5-for-5 day in game two.
Ryan O’Rourke, Merrimack (So., SP, Worcester, Mass.) -
Tallied 12 strikeouts in nine shutout innings in 1-0 loss to
Bryant. Struck out 20 in 17 innings for the week, registering a 0-1
record with 2.12 ERA.
Jack Cawley, Pace (Sr., OF, Bronx, N.Y.) - Batted .429 (6-for-14)
and slugged .571 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and a stolen
base. In two wins over Merrimack, went 3-for-6 with an RBI double
and a run scored. Drove in the first run with an RBI double in a
2-2 tie against Franklin Pierce. Went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a
stolen base in a win over C.W. Post.
Dustin Corbett, Pace (Sr., SP, Vestal, N.Y.) - Tossed a complete
game four-hit shutout, while striking out six in a 2-0 win over
Merrimack.
Ben Gunn, Saint Anselm (Jr., 3B, Vineyard Haven, Mass.) - In seven
games last week, hit .400 with 10 hits, six runs scored, two
doubles, one triple, six runs batted in, 14 total bases, a .560
slugging percentage, was perfect 1-for-1 on stolen bases and had a
.955 fielding percentage. Had three multiple-hit games, including
three hits against both Bentley and Assumption.
Andrew Long, Saint Anselm (Sr., SP, Peabody, Mass.) - Was 2-0 last
week in two starts with just a 0.64 earned run average while
surrendering just one earned run in 14 innings of work, along with
just five hits while striking out four. Opposing batters hit just
.111 in the two outings. Began the week with a six-inning, one-hit
outing against Bentley with no runs scored, followed by an
eight-inning, four-hit game where he gave up his lone run of the
week.
Angel Nunez, Saint Rose (Fr., OF, Brooklyn, N.Y.) - Batted .407
(11-for-27) with seven runs, five RBI and three stolen bases
throughout an eight-game stretch, while slugging .519 and
registering a .407 on base percentage. In a 2-1 14-inning loss at
UMass Lowell, finished 3-for-6 with a run and stolen base. Went
3-for-6 with four RBI and three runs in a doubleheader sweep versus
Saint Michael's. In a 9-7 setback versus Southern Connecticut,
tripled, scored twice and stole another bag.
Karl Derbacher, Southern Connecticut (Jr., OF, Northford, Conn.) -
Hit .379 (11-for-29) with a double, two triples, five RBI, four
runs scored, six walks and four stolen bases in a 6-1 week for
SCSU. Tallied a .472 on-base percentage.
