Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Karl Derbacher, Southern Connecticut (Jr., OF, Northford, Conn.) -
Hit .531 (17-for-32) with three doubles, a triple, 10 RBI, five
runs scored, a walk, a hit-by-pitch and two steals in a 7-0 week.
Posted a slugging percentage of .688 and an on-base percentage of
.559.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Jarrod Marchesi, Bentley (Jr., SP, Peabody, Mass.) – Pitched
two complete games and posted a 1.00 ERA in two victories this past
week. In 18 innings, allowed 16 hits (all but one a single) and did
not issue a walk while striking out 12. Fanned nine in a 14-2 win
at Assumption and pitched a shutout in an 8-0 win at Saint
Rose.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
James Roche, Bentley (Fr., OF, Arlington, Mass.) - In a 4-2 week,
hit .478 (11-23), slugged .826 (two doubles, two homers) and had a
.600 on base percentage. Scored nine runs, had eight RBI and had
five multi-hit games. Was directly involved in an average of 2.5
runs per game.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Baillargeon, Assumption (Jr., 2B, Worcester, Mass.) - Batted
.476 (10-for-21, 2 RS, 2 RBI) and slugged .476 (10 TB) last week.
In a three-game series against Franklin Pierce, went 7-for-13
(.538) with a RBI and a run scored. In the two-game series (1-1)
with Bentley, went 3-for-8 (.375) with a RBI and a run scored.
Jeff Barbale, Assumption (Jr., SP, Charlton, Mass.) - Pitched a
complete game seven-hit shutout of Franklin Pierce in the front end
of a doubleheader. Also had a walk and a strikeout.
Nick Campbell, Bryant (So., OF, Raynham, Mass.) - Hit .385
(10-for-26) in a 6-0 week. Slugged .462 with a pair of doubles,
seven RBI and three runs scored to increase his current hitting
streak to nine games. Had an on-base percentage of .429 with a walk
and a steal.
Jeff Vigurs, Bryant (So., C, South Windor, Conn.) - Hit .438
(7-for-16) in a 6-0 week, while recording a .571 on-base percentage
with a pair of doubles, four RBI, six runs scored and a .563
slugging percentage. Drew five walks on the week with a pair of sac
bunts and a stolen base. Went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored
in a 7-4 win over Brown University and 2-for-3 with two RBI and two
runs scored in a game one win over American International.
Scott Savastano, Franklin Pierce (Jr., SS, Plymouth, Mass.) - Hit
.414 (12-for-29) with four doubles, five runs scored, four RBI,
eight walks and a .655 slugging percentage in nine games. Went
5-for-10 with three doubles and three RBI in a doubleheader versus
Pace and followed with a 3-for-5 effort with two runs scored in two
games against Saint Anselm. Ended the week by driving in the
game-winning run in the completion of the team's suspended game
with Pace.
Tim Manton, UMass Lowell (Sr., OF, Swansea, Mass.) – Hit .333
with eight hits and three runs scored this past week. Also earned a
victory on the mound, pitching 8.1 innings in a 2-0 win over New
Haven. Scattered seven hits and struck out three on the mound and
had three two-hit games at the plate.
Jeff Bercume, Merrimack (Jr., OF, Leicester, Mass.) - Had 12 hits
in 24 at-bats including six runs, seven RBI, two doubles, two
triples and five steals this past week.
Dustin Corbett, Pace (Sr., SP, Vestal, N.Y.) - Posted a 1-1 record
with a 0.64 ERA, while striking out 13 in 14 innings. Tossed eight
innings, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out five in a
win over Saint Rose. Pitched six innings, allowing one run on six
hits and struck out five in a 3-0 loss to UMass Lowell.
Andre Liscinsky, Pace (Jr., SS, Trumbull, Conn.) - Batted .353
(12-for-34) and slugged .412, while tallying seven runs, five RBI,
one triple, and stole a pair of bases. Had a pair of hits, scored
three runs and two RBI in a doubleheader sweep over Franklin
Pierce. Went 6-for-8 (5-for-5 in one game) with three runs scored,
three RBI, a triple and stole a base in two games with Saint Rose.
Went 2-for-5 with a run scored and one RBI against Southern
Connecticut.
Nick Barese, Saint Anselm (Sr., SP, Braintree, Mass.) - Earned a
win and picked up a save last week. Against Franklin Pierce, threw
a perfect inning with a strikeout to earn the save. Then came back
on Thursday to toss eight innings, allowing just four hits and one
earned run with four strikeouts for the victory.
Anthony Fiorillo, Southern Connecticut (Sr., DH, New Haven, Conn.)
- Hit .321 (9-for-28) with three doubles, two homeruns, 11 RBI,
seven runs, five walks and two steals in a 7-0 week. Posted a .643
slugging percentage and a .424 on-base percentage.
Brian Lazor, Southern Connecticut (Jr., RP, Hewitt, N.J.) -
Finished the week with a 1-0 record, a save and a 0.00 ERA after
pitching 11 scoreless innings over two appearances. Threw a
scoreless, hitless final two innings, walked two and struck out two
to tally a save against American International. Made a spot start
and threw a four-hit shutout, walked one and struck out eight to
defeat Saint Anselm in the front end of a doubleheader.
Dave Fradette, Stonehill (Sr., OF, Goffstown, N.H.) - Batted .321
during a 5-2 week. Drove in 11 runs and had only one strikeout in
28 at-bats. Had three extra base hits including a home run and
didn't commit an error in the field. In the win over Southern New
Hampshire, went 4-for-5 with five RBI.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Junior RHP Jarrod Marchesi tied and broke
the Bentley single season records for most wins in a season,
notching number seven against Assumption and number eight vs. Saint
Rose.
