Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Derek Ingui, Franklin Pierce (So., DH, Sterling, Mass.) - Hit .542
(13-for-24) over five games in the Northeast-10 Championship.
Tallied four doubles, two home runs, eight runs batted in, 12 runs
scored and three stolen bases. Posted a .958 slugging percentage
and a .593 on-base percentage. Named Most Valuable Player of
Northeast-10 Championships.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Chris Smith, New Haven (Jr., SP, Shelton, Conn.) - Pitched a
complete game shutout in his lone start of the week against Bentley
in the first round of the Northeast-10 championship. Struck out
five batters and allowed just four hits and two walks in leading
the team to a 4-0 victory.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Mike Dowd, Franklin Pierce (Fr., C, East Bridgewater, Mass.) - Hit
.545 (12-for-22) in five games in the Northeast-10 Championship
this past weekend. Recorded two doubles, one home run, five runs
batted in and scored 11 times. Had a .773 slugging percentage and a
.583 on-base percentage. Named to the All-Championship Team.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Baillargeon, Assumption (Sr., 2B, Worcester, Mass.) - Hit for
.538 during the Northeast-10 Championship. Had seven hits including
his team leading 11th home run. Had two RBI and scored three
runs.
Mike DiReda, Assumption (Sr., 3B, Shrewsbury, Mass.) - Went .267
with four hits including three home runs in the Northeast-10
Championship. Had six RBI and scored four runs. Named to the
Northeast-10 All-Championship team.
Tim Dupuis, Assumption (Jr., RP, West Suffield, Conn.) - Made three
appearances in the Northeast-10 Championship this past weekend and
had two saves. Pitched 4.2 innings, allowed three hits, one run and
had an ERA of 1.93, while striking out five. Named to the
Northeast-10 All Championship Team.
Steve Cadoret, Franklin Pierce (Gr., SP, Sterling, Mass.) - Made
his only start in the final and decisive game of the Northeast-10
Championship. Threw 7.2 innings, allowed just one run on six hits,
did not issue a walk and struck out seven in the 6-1 win over
Assumption.
Ted Lerud, Franklin Pierce (Sr., OF, Hampden, Mass.) - Hit .526
(10-for-19) over five games in the Northeast-10 Championship.
Tallied one double, two home runs, 12 runs batted in, five runs
scored and a pair of stolen bases. Recorded an .895 slugging
percentage and a .591 on-base percentage. Named to the
All-Championship Team.
Ryan Brockett, New Haven (Fr., OF, Guilford, Conn.) - Led the team
with a .353 batting average (6-for-17) in a 2-2 week. Was 2-for-2
in stolen bases. Went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double
against Bentley in the first round of the Northeast-10
championship. Finished 3-for-5 with an RBI against Assumption and
scored three runs in two games against Franklin Pierce.
Evan Okon, New Haven (Sr., 2B, Bellmore, N.Y.) - Hit .333
(6-for-18) with a run scored and two RBI in a 2-2 week. Was 1-for-1
in stolen bases and went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI
against Franklin Pierce.
Ed Bethke, Southern Connecticut (Jr., SP, Branford, Conn.) -
Allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, zero walks and five
strikeouts in eight and two-third innings pitched against UMass
Lowell in the first round of the Northeast-10 Championship.
Ryan Geffert, Southern Connecticut (Fr., 1B, Plymouth, Pa.) - Went
3-for-4 with a run scored in the first round game of the
Northeast-10 championship versus UMass Lowell.
Weekly Notes:
NEW HAVEN: Senior Evan Okon set the record for
career doubles in school history on Saturday against Franklin
Pierce. He finished his career with 54 doubles, passing Michael
Morris who previously held the record with 53 career doubles.
