Bentley’s Bernadeau and Tetzel Selected to 2008 Cactus Bowl

South Easton, Mass. – Bentley College seniors
Mackenzy Bernadeau (Waltham, Mass.) and
Paul Tetzel (Millbury, Mass.) were
selected to the 2008 Valero Cactus Bowl East Team for the 2008
Division II All-Star game to be played at Javelina Stadium in
Kingsville, Texas on Friday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
Bernadeau was named the 2007 Northeast-10 Offensive Lineman of the
Year for the second straight season. The senior guard helped the
Bentley offense rush for 114.7 yards per game this season and as a
team surrendered 33 sacks. Bernadeau was also selected to the
Northeast-10 First-Team for the third straight season and was named
to the 2007 Daktronics Division II All Northeast Region First-Team.
In addition, he was also selected to the 2007 American Football
Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches All-America
Team.
The 2007 Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Tetzel
finished the year ranked among the conference leaders in tackles
(68) and finished first in interceptions with seven. In addition,
he returned 21 kickoffs for 607 yards and one touchdown. A
three-time All Northeast-10 selection, Tetzel was named to the
First-Team for the first time in his collegiate career. He was also
selected to the 2007 Daktronics Division II All Northeast Region
First-Team.
Bentley finished the 2007 season fourth in the Northeast-10 with a
6-3 conference record and 7-3 overall.
The Cactus Bowl began as the Snow Bowl in 1994 at the Fargo Dome
in Forgo, North Dakota. After its initial seven-year run, the game
moved to Kingsville in 2001. The game was played in Kingsville for
six years, took a hiatus last year and will return to Javelina
Stadium in 2008.
Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the
Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic
conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any
Division II conference.
