Northeast-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week
John Wiechman, Southern Connecticut (So., RB, Buxton, Maine) - Set
a new career-high in rushing for the third straight game. Rushed
for 229 yards on 32 carries and scored four touchdowns (new
career-high) in the win over Merrimack.
Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week
Jean Simeon, American International (Sr., DL, Atlantic City, N.J.)
- Recorded a team-best 13 tackles, seven solo, with game-highs of
six tackles for loss and three and a half sacks in the 24-10
victory over Stonehill.
Northeast-10 Co- Offensive Player and Freshman of the
Week
Marc Wilson, Saint Anselm (Fr., QB , Farmington, Conn.) - Rushed
for 181 yards and two touchdowns, as well as completing 11 passes
for 114 yards and two more touchdowns, in the 48-42 win over
Merrimack. Scored a pair of TD's in the final three minutes of the
first half.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Mayo, American International (Fr., RB, Roosevelt, N.Y.) -
Carried the ball 22 times for 131 yards and one score in the 24-10
win over Stonehill.
Rob Parent , American International (So., QB, West Warwick, R.I.)
- Completed 17-of-25 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns in the
24-10 win over Stonehill, with scoring plays of 12 and 14 yards,
respectively.
Nathaniel Ford, Pace (Sr., RB, Jamaica, N.Y.) - Rushed for 106
yards on 22 carries and scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:40
left in the game in a win over Assumption. Also caught three passes
for 47 yards and one touchdown.
Ray Gregg, Pace (Jr., QB, Stony Point, N.Y.) - Tossed for 206
yards on 14-for-27 passing and a pair of touchdowns in a win over
Assumption.
Richard Johnson, Merrimack (Jr., RB, Brockton, Mass.) - Rushed for
160 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in the loss to Saint
Anselm.
James Suozzo, Merrimack (Fr., QB, Everett, Mass.) - Rushed for 132
yards and scored three touchdowns while completing 23 of 49 passes
for 289 yards and one touchdown in the loss to Saint Anselm.
Luke St. Marie , Saint Anselm ( Jr. , RB , Mill Creek, Wash. ) -
Rushed for a single-game school record 241 yards on 28 carries in
the 48-42 win over Merrimack. Also scored a pair of touchdowns,
with those scores coming on 65 and 45 yard runs.
Andrew Pratt, Southern Connecticut (Jr., LB, West Haven, Conn.) -
Paced the defense with six tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble
(that led to a 15-yard fumble return touchdown) and broke up a pass
in the 49-14 win over Bentley.
Weekly Notes:
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL: AIC’s victory over
Stonhill marked its school-record 12th consecutive win dating back
to last season. The Yellow Jackets also tied the school record for
consecutive home victories with its 13th straight win at John Homer
Miller Field, a streak that began with a 51-28 win over Saint
Anselm November 5, 2005. AIC also won 13 consecutive home games
spanning the 1999-2002 seasons. The Yellow Jackets 6-0 start to the
season ties the 1980 team for the second-most wins to open a season
in program history. AIC won a school-record eight straight games to
open the 1975 campaign.
ASSUMPTION: Joey Fabiano has reached the 1,000 yard
plateau with his 87 yards receiving in a game against Pace on
Saturday. He now has 1,043 yards receiving for his career.
BENTLEY: Bentley didn’t commit a single
penalty in Friday night’s 47-14 loss to Southern Connecticut,
becoming the first team in Northeast-10 history to do so. Senior
John Studley (Peabody, Mass.) moved into fourth on Bentley’s
career reception list (117) and with 1,476 yards, needs 80 to vault
from eighth to fourth in career receiving yards.
SAINT ANSELM: Luke St. Marie rushed for a
single-game school record 241 yards on 28 carries to lead Saint
Anselm to a 48-42 win over Merrimack on Friday night. The win snaps
a 34-game losing streak, the longest in the nation at any level of
college football.
