UMass Lowell Field Hockey Featured on CBS? NCAA Fall Championships Show Christmas Day

LOWELL, MA The UMass Lowell field hockey team, fresh off winning the NCAA Division II championship, will highlight the NCAA Fall Championships Show to be aired on Christmas Day at 4:00 on CBS (Channel 4).

The one-hour special highlights championships in Division II and III field Hockey, Division II and III men's and women's cross country, Division II and III women's volleyball, as well as Division III men's and women's soccer.

Each championship feature includes behind the scenes footage as well as personal stories of some extraordinary student athletes.

UMass Lowell defeated Bloomsburg University, 2-1, in sudden death overtime for the NCAA Division II Championship on Sunday, Nov. 13, in Shippensburg, PA.

Senior midfielder Joanna DaLuze (Harwich, MA) scored the game-winning goal just into the 93rd minute to deliver the River Hawks their first-ever national championship in a women's sport.

UMass Lowell's segment will include footage of the championship game, the team's pregame and halftime sessions, as well as the team's foray to Hershey Park on Saturday, Nov. 12, the day between the semifinal and final.

Other teams appearing in the show include Salisbury (MD), the Division III field hockey champion; Western State (CO) and Adams State (CO), the men's and women's Division II cross country champions; Wisconsin-Lacrosse and Geneseo State (NY), the Division III men's and women's cross country champions; as well as Grand Valley State (MI) and Wisconsin-Whitewater, the Division II and III volleyball champions.
