UMASS LOWELL EARN’S TOP SEED IN NORTHEAST-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

South Easton, Mass. – The River Hawks of the University of
Massachusetts Lowell claimed the top seed in the Northeast-10 Field
Hockey Championship.
UMass Lowell finished the season 16-2 overall and 15-1 in NE-10
action, resulting in the team’s second regular season title
in the last three years.
Bentley College (13-5, 13-3, NE-10) received the second seed in
the tournament after finishing with a 13-3 conference record. Both
the River Hawks and Falcons will receive first-round byes in the
tournament.
Bryant University (12-7, 12-4, NE-10) claimed the third seed over
Stonehill College (15-5, 12-4, NE-10) due to their regular season
victories over the Skyhawks. Stonehill will be the fourth seed in
the tournament. Both teams will host quarterfinal contests.
Rounding out the rest of the field is Saint Michael’s
College (8-10, 8-8, NE-10) as the fifth seed and Saint Anselm
College (8-9, 8-8, NE-10) as the sixth seed. The Purple Knights won
the tie-break over the Hawks due to their regular season
victory.
Quarterfinal matches include #5 Saint Michael’s at #4
Stonehill for a 3:30 p.m. match up, while #6 Saint Anselm travels
to #3 Bryant for a 7 p.m. contest.
The semifinal round will take place at UMass Lowell on Saturday,
October 27 with the winner of the Saint Michael’s/Stonehill
taking on #1 UMass Lowell at 12 p.m. followed by the winner of
Saint Anselm/Bryant facing off against #2 Bentley at 3 p.m.
The championship game is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 28
at UMass Lowell

Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic
conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any
