Northeast-10 Golfer of the Week
Joe Tesori, Le Moyne (So., DeWitt, NY) - Won individual medalist honors at the 2005 Northeast-10 Conference Golf Championship. Was the first round leader with a tournament-best 69 (-3), shot a four-over 76 in Sunday?s windy, wet conditions to hold off to win his first tournament for Le Moyne by one stroke.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Jamie Bacon, Saint Rose (Fr., Port Perry, Ontario) ? Shot a two-day total of seven-over, 151 to finish seventh, the highest of all freshman golfers at the tournament to garner Freshman of the Year and second team all-conference accolades.
Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:
Mark Halibozek, Assumption (Sr., West Hartford, CT) - Finished in an eighth place tie at the Northeast-10 tournament, shooting a 152 (71-81), to garner second team all-conference honors.
Ryan Stewart, Bentley (Jr., North Merrick, NY) - Finished tenth in the Northeast-10 Championships, with a 76-77-153 to pick up second team all-conference honors.
Jeremy Hall, Bryant (Sr., North Attleboro, MA) ? Helped Bryant claim first place as he finished tied for 11th with a 154. Tied for 11th and collected second team all-conference honors.
Jim O'Connell, Bryant (Sr., Troy, NY) - Tied for fifth at the NE-10 Championships to collect first team all-conference honors. Opened the tournament with a 71 on Saturday and followed with a 79 Sunday.
Brenden Smith, Bryant (Sr., North Attleboro, MA) - Helped lead team to a first-place finish at the NE-10 Championships with a second-place finish with a 146 for two over par. Shot a 72 on the final day, a team best, and garnered first team all-conference honors.
Dan McCarthy, Le Moyne (Jr., Syracuse, NY) - Finished in a tie for third with a three-over score of 147 at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Shot an even-par 72 on Saturday and a three-over 75 Sunday and picked up first team all-conference honors.
Chris Menne, UMass Lowell (Jr., Edgartown, MA) - Carded a 74-76-150 to place fifth at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and earned first team all-conference honors. Fired a 76 for the first day to place in a tie for 11th and followed with a 74 for day two to move up to fifth.
AJ Mansor, Saint Anselm (Sr., Methuen, MA) - Led the Hawks to a fourth place finish with a two-day total of 154 (76-78) which was tied for 11th best and good for second team all-conference honors.
Scott Dagle, Saint Rose (Jr., Stillwater, NY) ? Carded a 158 to finish tied for eighth to garner second team all-conference honors.
Sam Natti, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., Lisbon, NH) - Led SNHU to a third place showing at the Northeast-10 championship. Tied for the lowest score during second day action with a par 72 and placed third overall with +3 147. Collected first team All NE-10 honors.
Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:
BRYANT: Bryant captured it's third-straigth conference title and 20th overall Sunday by winning the Northeast-10 title by way of a tiebreaker over Le Moyne. The Bulldogs will take part in the University of Rhode Island Adams' Cup Monday and Tuesday with a field consisting of NCAA Division II Champion South Carolina - Aiken and Division I power Houston competing. The tournament will be held at Newport National?LE MOYNE: The Dolphins follow up their seventh consecutive season as the host of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship with the ECAC Division II Championship next weekend. Joe Tesori's individual win marked the third for a Le Moyne golfer. Brian Malchak won the event in 1997 and Neil Reidy garnered the Gordon McCullough Memorial Award as the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year in 1998. Le Moyne finished as the runner-up by virtue of the tiebreaker. The Dolphins have been the runner-up each of the last two seasons, but have never won the team event?UMASS LOWELL: Junior Chris Menne (Edgartown, MA) was the second UMass Lowell player in as many years to earn first team all-conference honors. Last year, Tom Lamond earned the honor after placing in a tie for third place with a 149...Menne was one of four River Hawks who improved their scores from day one despite the inclement weather.
