Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Jr., G, Lexington, Mass.) - Was named to the
All-Tournament Team at the Elite Eight after averaging 18 points,
six rebounds, 2.5 assists and one steal. Shot 48 percent overall,
made five of nine three-pointers and converted seven of eight free
throws. Scored 19 points against North Alabama and 17 versus Winona
State.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Tom Dowling, Bentley (Fr., G, Brielle, N.J.) - In the Elite Eight,
averaged 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Shot 45 percent
from the field and made eight of ten free throws. Scored 15 points
in the semifinals against eventual champion Winona State.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Jason Westrol, Bentley (So., G, Brielle, N.J.) - Averaged 17
points, four rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals during the Elite
Eight while shooting 71 percent from the floor. Scored 26 points in
the quarterfinal win over North Alabama.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley finished at 34-1, setting school,
conference and Northeast Region records for both wins in a season
and longest winning streak. Junior guard Lew Finnegan was selected
to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight All-Tournament Team. Senior
forward Nate Fritsch (Durham, N.C.) was selected for the State Farm
Division II All-America team by the NABC. Fritsch finished his
career as Bentley’s all-time leader in games played, with
132. During the last four seasons, Fritsch and classmate Yusuf
Abdul-Ali (Springfield, Mass.) were part of Bentley teams that were
100 games over .500, 117-17. Tom Dowling had the highest scoring
average (7.7) for a Bentley freshman since Tim Forbes in
2002-03.
