South Easton, Mass. – Le Moyne College junior Laurence Ekperigin (Courtlandt Manor, N.Y.) and Merrimack College junior Darren Duncan (Briarwood, N.Y.) were named to the 2009 Daktronics Division II Men’s Basketball All-American team. Voting was conducted among Division II sports information directors across the nation.

The post-season accolades keep flowing in for Ekperigin as he was named to the Daktronics All-America First Team. The Northeast-10 and Daktronics East Region Player of the Year helped lead the Dolphins to the Northeast-10 Championship game for the first time since 1997. He finished third in the NE-10 in scoring with 18.3 points per game, while recording a conference best 11.4 rebounds and blocked 81 total shots. Ekperigin also led the conference with 21 double-doubles. The All-Northeast-10 First-Team selection became one of only four players in Le Moyne’s history to record 1,300 career points and 800 rebounds. Ekperigin also received NABC All-District First Team honors. The Dolphins concluded the year 20-11.

Duncan added another post-season award to his resume as he was named to the Daktronics All-America Third Team. Duncan, who already was named to the Daktronics East Region First Team and the NABC All-District First Team, led the Northeast-10 in scoring this season with 19.5 points and dished out a conference best 230 assists (7.67 per game). Duncan also received All-Northeast-10 First Team honors and finished his junior season with 1,465 career points. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA Division II East Region semifinals and finished the year with a 21-9 record.

With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
