Bentleys Westrol and Merrimacks Duncan Named to NABC All-America Team

South Easton, Mass. – Bentley University junior
Jason Westrol (Brielle, N.J.) and
Merrimack College junior Darren Duncan (Briarwood,
N.Y.) were named to the 2009 State Farm/NABC Division
II Men’s Basketball All-America team. The teams were selected
and voted on by member coaches of the NABC throughout the
country.
Westrol helped lead Bentley to its fifth straight Northeast-10
regular season title and to its third straight NCAA Division II
Regional Final. The Falcons finished the year 26-7 as Westrol led
the team in scoring with 18.3 points per game and finished fourth
in the NE-10. He also averaged four assists and 1.9 steals per game
to go along with 5.7 rebounds per contest. Westrol concluded his
junior season with 1,372 career points. The All-Northeast-10
selection also received Daktronics East Region and NABC
All-District honors as well this year.
Duncan, who recently was named a Daktronics All-American, could add
one more award to his resume this season as he was selected to the
NABC All-America Team. Duncan already received post-season
accolades as a Daktronics East Region First Team and the NABC
All-District First Team selection. He led the Northeast-10 in
scoring this season with 19.5 points and dished out a conference
best 230 assists (7.67 per game). Duncan also received
All-Northeast-10 First Team honors and finished his junior season
with 1,465 career points. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA
Division II East Region semifinals and finished the year with a
21-9 record.
With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest
NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23
championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500
student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II
conference.
