Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne (Jr., F, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) -
Averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds and three blocks per game in a
2-0 week. Scored 20 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and blocked
three shots in a 74-53 win over Pace. Registered 16 points, 12
rebounds and three blocks in a 76-43 victory over Southern
Connecticut.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Isiah Wallace, American International (Fr., G, Springfield, Mass.)
- Averaged 21 points and six rebounds while shooting 51.4 percent
(18-35) from the field in a 2-0 week. Filled the box score with 12
points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in a win at New
Haven and then scored a game-high 30 points and grabbed six boards
in win over Assumption. Shot 61.9 percent (13-21) from the floor
and was 4-of-5 at the line against the Greyhounds.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Baldarelli, Assumption (So., G, Sutton, Mass.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 14.5 points and six rebounds per game. In a non
conference win over Saint Thomas Aquinas, scored 20 points and
pulled down 11 rebounds. Also added five steals and one assist. In
a game against American International, scored nine points had one
rebound and one steal.
Patrick Shea, Assumption (Sr., G, Salem, Mass.) - In a 1-1 week
averaged 12.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. In a non conference
win over Saint Thomas Aquinas scored 11 points and had 11 rebounds
to go along with one assist and two steals. In a game against
American International, scored 14 points and had eight rebounds to
go along with one assist and one steal.
Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Sr., F, Lexington, Mass.) - In two wins,
averaged 16.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds with highs of 17
points against Franklin Pierce, and five assists and four rebounds
against UMass-Lowell. Shot 50 percent overall, buried 7-of-12
three-pointers and was 6-of-7 free throws.
Jason Westrol, Bentley (Jr., G, Brielle, N.J.) - Helped Bentley
reach the 20-win plateau for the fifth straight year by averaging
18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, three steals and 2.5 assists in wins
over UMass-Lowell and Franklin Pierce. Shot 54 percent from the
field and made all five of his free throws. Scored 22 points (9-15
fg, 2-4 3’s, 2-2 ft) and collected five rebounds against
UMass-Lowell, and had 15 points (all in the first half), eight
boards and five steals in a 26-point win at Franklin Pierce.
Victor Colon, UMass Lowell (Jr., F, Chicago, Ill.) - Registered
15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting .611 from the field
(11-18) and .455 from long range (5-11) in a 1-1 week. Opened the
week with 16 points (5-8 FG, 4-6 treys) in a 70-68 loss at No. 23
Bentley; followed with 15 points (6-10 FGs) and eight rebounds in
the 77-72 win at Merrimack.
Darren Duncan, Merrimack (Jr., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Averaged 18.5
points and six assists in two games this past week.
Cassius Chaney, New Haven (Jr., F, Old Saybrook, Conn.) - Had a 20
points and 10 rebounds in the team's lone game of the week against
American International. Shot 9-of-19 from the field and added two
assists, two steals and one block.
Thomas Baudinet, Saint Anselm (So., G, Watertown, Conn.) - Averaged
20 points, six rebounds and one assist per game last week while
also shooting 94.1 percent from the free throw line (16-for-17).
Began the week with an 18-point, six-rebound showing in a win over
Southern Connecticut. Was 10-for-10 at the free throw line in that
game. Scored a team-high 22 points in a loss at Saint Rose.
John Tello, Saint Anselm (So., F, Ridgefield Park, N.J.) - Nnearly
averaged a double-double at 19 points and eight rebounds per game,
along with 1.5 blocks per contest this past week. Led the Hawks
with 21 points and nine rebounds in a win over Southern
Connecticut. Capped the week with a 17-point, seven-rebound game in
a loss at Saint Rose.
Shea Bromirski, Saint Rose (Fr., G, Cambridge, N.Y.) - Averaged 18
points and two assists throughout a 2-0 week. Shot 54.5 percent
(12-for-22) from the floor, including a 7-for-15 effort from the
arc, and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the stripe. In a 70-52 win at
Saint Michael's, came off the pine for 22 minutes and scored 11 of
his game-high 18 points after halftime. Contributed 18 points and
two assists in 24 minutes off the bench in the 96-88 win over Saint
Anselm.
Jermaine Clark, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Perth Amboy, N.J.) - Averaged
18.5 points and 4.5 assists throughout a 2-0 week. Shot 85.7
percent (12-for-14) from the free throw line, including an
11-for-12 effort that helped seal a 96-88 win versus Saint Anselm.
Led all scorers with 25 points and added a pair of assists. Reached
twin-figures with 12 points to go with a career-high seven assists
in the win versus Saint Michael’s.
Troy Bowen, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., G, Nashua, N.H.) - Shot
60-percent from the floor and 58.3-percent behind the arc and
averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals per
game in a 2-0 week. Finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting
while grabbing nine rebounds in the win over Merrimack, then
totaled 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting in a win over
nationally-ranked Stonehill.
Lucas Croteau, Southern New Hampshire (Fr., G, Rochester, N.H.) -
Connected on 7-of-10 three-point attempts and averaged 10.5 points
per game in a 2-0 week. Connected on five of his seven three-point
attempts and scored a season-high 15 points in a win over
nationally-ranked Stonehill.
Stephen Wood, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., G, South Jamaica Queens,
N.Y.) - Averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds, four assists and two
steals per game while shooting 60-percent from the floor in a 2-0
week. Totaled 21 points, 11 rebounds and three assists in a win
over Merrimack, then added seven points, nine rebounds, five
assists, four steals and a blocked shot in a win at
nationally-ranked Stonehill.
Randall Stallworth, Stonehill (Jr., G, Toms River, N.J.) - Averaged
14.5 points, two assists and 1.5 steals in a 1-1 week. In a win
over Franklin Pierce, scored Stonehill's final four points turning
a one-point deficit into a three-point win. Then in a loss to
Southern New Hampshire, had 15 points, three rebounds, two assists
and two steals.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley reached the 20-win plateau for the fifth
straight year, the sixth time in this decade and 13th time in the
program’s history. The Falcons returned to the NABC Division
II Top 25 last week, checking in at number 23.
SAINT ROSE: Brian Beaury became just the ninth
active head coach, and 34th overall, at the NCAA Division II level
to ascend the 500-win plateau by virtue of Wednesday's 70-52
victory at Saint Michael’s. Beaury, now in his 23rd season at
the helm of his alma mater, has led The College of Saint Rose to 11
NCAA Tournament appearances within the past 17 years. He owns a
501-200 career record.
