Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne ( Jr. , F , Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. ) -
Averaged 25 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks per game in a 2-0
week. Scored 30 points, grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds,
including seven on the offensive end, and blocked a school
record-tying seven shots in a 77-68 victory at Saint Rose. Posted
20 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for his 18th double-double
of the season in the 79-68 overtime victory over Saint Anselm.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Chris Johnson, Le Moyne (Fr., G, Lindenhurst, N.Y.) - Averaged 18.5
points and three rebounds per game in a 2-0 week. Scored 16 points,
while hitting four three-pointers in the 77-68 victory at Saint
Rose. Recorded 21 points and tied his career high with five
rebounds in the 79-68 overtime victory over Saint Anselm. Broke the
College's freshman record for three-pointers in a season with his
84th on Saturday.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Sesoo Ikpah, American International (So., G, Williamstown, N.J.) -
Scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down six boards at Southern
New Hampshire University in the team’s only game of the
week.
Mike Baldarelli, Assumption (So., G, Sutton, Mass.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. In a win over
New Haven, scored 26 points including six three's and had eight
rebounds also had three steals and one assist. In a game against
UMass Lowell, had seven points and five rebounds as well as two
assists and one steal.
Savoy Fraine, Assumption (Jr., C, Grenada Hills, Calif.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 12.5 points and five rebounds per game. In a win
over New Haven, had 13 points and five rebounds and one steal. In a
game against UMass Lowell, scored 12 points had five rebounds three
blocked shots and one assist.
Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Sr., F, Lexington, Mass.) - Helped Bentley
extend winning streak to 13 by averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds,
1.5 assists and one steal in a pair of games. Shot 57 percent
overall, made 5-of-12 three-pointers and was 8-of-11 from the line.
Erupted for 25 points (9-14 fg, 4-9 3’s) against Southern New
Hampshire, and had 14 points and nine rebounds against Saint
Rose.
Jason Westrol, Bentley (Jr., G, Brielle, N.J.) - In a 2-0 week that
extended the Falcons’ win streak to 13, averaged 17.5 points,
eight rebounds, 4.5 assists and two steals with a .591 field goal
percentage. Had 20 points and eight boards versus Southern New
Hampshire, and 15 points, eight rebounds and seven assists against
Saint Rose.
Kyle Caiola, UMass Lowell (Fr., G, Parma, Ohio) - In a 2-0 week,
posted averages of 14.5 points, 4.5 assists, four rebounds and 2.5
steals while shooting .524 from the field (11-21). Opened the week
with 10 points, four assists and four steals in a 67-43 victory
over Stonehill. Followed with 19 points, six rebounds and five
assists while shooting .583 (7-12) in a 65-53 win at
Assumption.
Darren Duncan, Merrimack (Jr., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Averaged 18.5
points and 5.5 assists in a 2-0 week. Was 14-of-16 at the
free-throw line against Pace, setting the school record for
attempts in one season.
Aaron Strothers, Merrimack (Fr., F, Wareham, Mass.) - Tallied his
first collegiate double-double in an 85-71 win over Pace, getting
12 points and a career-high 12 boards. Averaged 10 points and 10
rebounds in a 2-0 week.
Cassius Chaney, New Haven (Jr., F, Old Saybrook, Conn.) - Led the
Chargers in a 1-1 week and averaged a team-high 21 points and eight
rebounds per contest. Shot 36.7 percent from the floor (18-for-49)
and added four assists, three blocks and two steals.
Adrian Mills, Pace (Fr., G, Woodbridge, Va.) - Averaged 16.5 points
and three rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored a team-high 18 points,
while shooting 6-for-7 from the free throw line in an overtime win
over Saint Anselm. Totaled 15 points, six rebounds and two assists
against Merrimack.
Thomas Baudinet, Saint Anselm (So., G, Watertown, Conn.) - Averaged
14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and one assist per game in an 0-2
week.
Jermaine Clark, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Perth Amboy, N.J.) - Averaged
17.5 points, three assists and two rebounds over a span of two
NE-10 games. Shot 46.7 percent (14-for-30)from the floor and was
7-of-18 from the arc as well. In a 77-68 loss versus Le Moyne,
poured in 26 points to go with four assists. Made 10-of-20 shots
from the floor and buried a career-high six, 3-pointers. Finished
with nine points, two boards and a like number of assists in a
setback at #19 Bentley.
Terron Jones, Southern Connecticut (Sr., G, Bridgeport, Conn.) -
Averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Had a
double-double in the win over Saint Michael's with 21 points
(8-for-11 from the floor) and 11 rebounds including the game
winning foul shot in overtime.
Troy Bowen, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., G, Nashua, N.H.) - Totaled
17 points apiece in a loss at Bentley and a win over American
International. Shot .667 from the floor (12-18) and .800 from
three-point land (8-10).
Matt Hall, Stonehill (Sr., G, Springfield, Mass.) - Averaged 13.5
points and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. In a loss at UMass-Lowell,
was the lone Stonehill player in double figures with 14 points and
six rebounds. Then in a win over Southern Connecticut, had 12
points, three rebounds and three assists on 5-for-9 shooting.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley climbed from 23rd to 19th in last
week’s NABC Division II coaches’ poll and now has won
13 in a row. This marks the fifth straight year that the Falcons
have enjoyed a winning streak of at least 13.
LE MOYNE: The Dolphins have won six consecutive
games, the team's longest winning streak since January of 2004.
Junior forward Laurence Ekperigin has moved up to 15th place on the
College's career scoring list with 1,276 points, eighth on the
rebounding list with 772 and third in blocks with 128. Ekperigin is
one of only five players in the College's history with at least
1,250 points and 750 rebounds. Chris Johnson broke Le Moyne’s
freshman record for three-pointers in a season with his 84th on
Saturday versus Saint Anselm.
MERRIMACK: Darren Duncan, who is just one of two
point guards from Division II to be a finalist for the Cousy Award,
set the school record for free throws attempts in a season Saturday
with 244. The previous record was 235, set by Paul Neal in the
1988-89 season. Neal made 199 free throws that season, ten more
than Duncan after today’s game. Duncan, who now has 491 free
throws in 644 attempts in his career, is closing in on Neal’s
record marks of 492 makes in 650 attempts. The 39-point win over
Franklin Pierce on Tuesday was Merrimack's largest margin of
victory ever in a Northeast-10 game. The previous high mark was a
36-point (93-57) victory over Quinnipiac on November 30, 1998.
