Northeast-10 Player of the Week

Mike Baldarelli, Assumption (So., G, Sutton, Mass.) - In a 3-0 week that included winning the Northeast-10 Championship and being named championship Most Valuable Player, averaged 19 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. In a quarterfinal matchup between Merrimack, scored 21 points, had nine rebounds and four assists. In a semi final game against Saint Anselm, scored 26 points had eight rebounds, two steals, one blocked shot, and one assist. In the championship game against Le Moyne, scored 10 points had five rebounds, and two assists.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

James Cormier, Le Moyne (Fr., G, Trumbull, Conn.) - Averaged eight points, 1.3 rebounds and two steals in leading the Dolphins to the championship game of the Northeast-10 Championship. Tallied 13 points in a 61-55 win over Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals.

Weekly Honor Roll:

Courtland Bluford, Assumption (Jr., G, Ft. Washington, Md.) - In a 3-0 week that included winning the Northeast-10 Championship and being named to the all-championship team, averaged 14 points and four rebounds per game. In a quarterfinal matchup between Merrimack, scored 13 points, had four rebounds two assists, one blocked shot and one steal. In a semi final game against Saint Anselm, scored 15 points had three rebounds, three assists and one steal. In the championship game against Le Moyne, scored 14 points had five rebounds, and three assists and one blocked shot.

Patrick Shea, Assumption (Sr., G, Salem, Mass.) - In a 3-0 week that included winning the Northeast-10 Championship, averaged 12 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. In a quarterfinal matchup between Merrimack, scored 10 points, had three rebounds three steals and one assist. In a semi final game against Saint Anselm, scored 13 points had six rebounds, and four assists. In the championship game against Le Moyne, scored 13 points had five rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Greg Twomey, Assumption (Gr., F, Groton, Mass.) - In a 3-0 week that included winning the Northeast-10 Championship, averaged 13.7 points and six rebounds per game. In a quarterfinal matchup between Merrimack, scored 18 points, had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. In a semi final game against Saint Anselm, scored eight points had three rebounds, four assists, and one steals. In the championship game against Le Moyne, scored 15 points had eight rebounds, and three assists, one blocked shot and two steals.

Lew Finnegan, Bentley (Sr., F, Lexington, Mass.) - Had 23 points (8-17 fg, 3-6 3’s, 4-4 ft), five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in a NE-10 quarterfinal loss to Saint Anselm.

Jason Westrol, Bentley (Jr., G, Brielle, N.J.) - In the NE-10 quarters against Saint Anselm, filled the stat sheet with 24 points (8-16 fg, 7-8 ft), nine rebounds, four assists and one steal.

Laurence Ekperigin, Le Moyne (Jr., F, Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) - Averaged 16 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocks in leading the Dolphins to the championship game of the Northeast-10 Championship. Tallied 19 points and 17 rebounds in the quarterfinals victory at Stonehill, while posting 17 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks in a 61-55 win over Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals.

Darren Duncan, Merrimack (Jr., G, Briarwood, N.Y.) - Tallied a double-double in the loss to Assumption in the quarterfinals, scoring 20 points and dishing out a career-high 14 assists. Tallied five steals and four boards as well.

Thomas Baudinet, Saint Anselm (So.,G, Watertown, Conn.) - Averaged 15 points, three rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game this past week. The week was highlighted by a 17-point effort that included a trio of three-pointers in the win over top-ranked Bentley in the quarterfinals. Was named to the NE-10 All-Championship Team for his performance.

Giovanni Carenza, Saint Anselm (Jr., F, East Hanover, N.J.)- Averaged 13 points and seven rebounds in a 1-1 week, while shooting 70 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from three-point land. Had 10 points and seven rebounds at Bentley in the NE-10 quarterfinals, including the clinching free throws in the final seconds. Followed that with a 16-point, seven-rebound effort in the loss at Assumption. Was 7-for-8 from the free throw line in that game.

Greg Vetrano, Saint Anselm (Jr., G, Andover, Mass.) - Averaged 18.5 points, four assists and two steals per game while shooting 40 percent from three as the Hawks advanced to the NE-10 Semifinals. The week was highlighted by a career-high 27-point effort in a win at top-ranked Bentley in the NE-10 Quarterfinals. Knocked down five three's in that game, along with dishing out six assists. Finished with 10 points, two steals and two assists in a semifinal loss at Assumption.

Stephen Wood, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., F, South Jamaica Queens, N.Y.) - Recorded a pair of double-doubles last week and averaged 10.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game. Totaled 10 points and 14 rebounds in the NE-10 quarterfinal win over UMass Lowell, then registered 11 points and 15 boards at Le Moyne in the NE-10 semifinals.

Weekly Notes:

BENTLEY: Bentley will be competing in the NCAA tournament for the 15th time, including the sixth time in the last eight years. The Falcons are one of seven programs nationwide that has been involved in each NCAA tournament since 2005. With 172 career steals, junior Jason Westrol has moved into a tie for second on Bentley’s all-time list.

MERRIMACK: Merrimack advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and the seventh time in school history.
