Le Moyne Selected Preseason Favorite in Northeast-10 Regular Season Title

South Easton, Mass. – The Dolphins of Le Moyne College are
the unanimous pick to capture the Northeast-10 regular season title
as determined by the league’s 10 lacrosse coaches.
Le Moyne received all 10 of the first place votes in the poll and
100 points. Bryant University (83) is picked to finish second,
slightly ahead of Merrimack College (82). Saint Michael’s
College follows with 64 points, followed by Bentley College (56) to
round out the top five.
The remainder of the field included, in order, Southern New
Hampshire University (55), Pace University (41), Saint Anselm
College (29), Assumption College (26), and Franklin Pierce College
(14).
In the 2006 season, Le Moyne captured the Northeast-10 regular
season title for the seventh straight year and defeated Merrimack
10-3 to claim its sixth straight Northeast-10 Championship title.
The Dolphins went on to earn their fifth straight NCAA bid and
hosted Limestone College in the semifinal, defeating the Saints
22-3 to advance to the NCAA National Championship game. Le Moyne
won its second national championship in three seasons by defeating
Dowling College 12-5.
The 2007 season gets under way on February 24 with two games
scheduled as Saint Anselm matches up with Green Mountain and
Adelphi travels to Bryant. The first Northeast-10 Conference game
is slated for March 6 with Pace and Southern New Hampshire facing
off at Manchester, N.H.
Sponsoring 23 championship sports and 15 full-time members, the
Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic
conference in the nation and sponsors the most championships of any
Division II conference.
