MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm men's lacrosse team is proud to announce the signing of Jasper Habwe to its team through the Team IMPACT program, an organization that aims to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threating and chronic illnesses through the power of team.

Habwe was introduced by head coach Mike Sciamanna through a press conference where he signed his letter of intent to become a member of the team before taking on several players in video games before practice.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Jasper to the Saint Anselm men's lacrosse family," said coach Sciamanna. "When we first heard that Jasper would be joining the team, it was our goal to make a difference in his life, however, after meeting him it quickly became clear that he is going to have a significant impact on our lives as well. The entire Hawks lacrosse family is looking forward to developing a lifelong friendship with both Jasper and his family."

Habwe suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. DMD is caused by an absence of dystrophin, a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact.
