Northeast-10 Player of the Week
David Clifton, Franklin Pierce (Gr., F, London, England) - Earned
Most Outstanding Offensive Player honors at the NCAA Division II
New England Regional this past weekend, leading Franklin Pierce to
its third regional title in four years by scoring six of the Ravens
eight goals scored over the two games for 12 points. Netted a hat
trick in the 5-0 opening round victory over Le Moyne. Scored all
three Raven goals in the 3-1 win over UMass Lowell in the regional
final.
Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week
James Thorpe, Franklin Pierce (Sr., GK, East Longmeadow, Mass.) -
Earned All-Tournament team honors at the NCAA Division II New
England Regional as he posted a 0.50 GAA and .750 save percentage
with a shutout as Franklin Pierce claimed its third regional title
in four years. Made two key first half saves to preserve the
shutout in the 5-0 victory over Le Moyne. Made a key early save in
the 3-1 win over UMass Lowell in the regional title.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Adit Phataraprasit, Franklin Pierce (Fr., D, Bangkok, Thailand) -
Earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player honors at the NCAA
Division II New England Regional. Totaled a goal and two assists
for four points and also played a key role in a Ravens defensive
unit which yielded just one goal and an average of five shots per
match over the regional. Netted the match-winning goal and added
two assists in Franklin Pierce's 5-0 opening round victory over Le
Moyne.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mike Lima, Franklin Pierce (Sr., M, Ludlow, Mass.) - Earned
All-Tournament team honors at the NCAA Division II New England
Regional, dishing a pair of assists for two points as Franklin
Pierce captured its third regional title in four years. Assisted on
goals in wins over Le Moyne (5-0) and Lowell (3-1).
Edens Chery, UMass Lowell (Sr., M, Brockton, Mass.) - Earned
All-Tournament Team honors and scored UMass Lowell's only goal in
the 3-1 loss at Franklin Pierce in the NCAA New England Region
Final.
Ryan Richards, UMass Lowell (So., GK , Holden, Mass.) - Earned
All-Tournament Team honors and compiled seven saves along with
three penalty kick stops as UMass Lowell drew with Southern
Connecticut (1-1) and suffered a 3-1 loss to Franklin Pierce in the
NCAA Tournament New England Regional. Had three saves and stopped
three of five penalty kicks in the shootout win (3-2) over Southern
Connecticut. Stopped four shots in the 3-1 loss to the Ravens in
the Regional finale.
Jamie Wangia, UMass Lowell (Jr., M, Lowell, Mass.) - Scored the
team’s goal in a 1-1 deadlock against Southern Connecticut in
the NCAA Tournament New England region first round match. Named to
the All-Tournament Team.
Michael DiBartolomeo, Southern Connecticut (So., M, Wallingford,
Conn.) - Assisted on Ancil Farrier's goal in the 1-1 draw with
UMass Lowell in the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Ancil Farrier, Southern Connecticut (Jr., D, Los Bajos, Trinidad) -
Scored the team’s only goal of the game (team-leading ninth
tally of the season) in the Owls' NCAA First Round draw with UMass
Lowell.
Brendan Lawless, Southern Connecticut (Sr., GK, Orleans, Mass.) -
Made six saves against UMass Lowell in the 1-1 draw against the
River Hawks in NCAA First Round action.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Captured its third NCAA New England
Region Championship in four years over the weekend. Grad student
David Clifton netted six goals to earn Most Outstanding Offensive
Player at the regional and sits just a goal shy of the NCAA
Division II record for goals in tournament of seven set by Lynn's
Lee Paul Scroggins in 2005. Clifton's seven career NCAA Tournament
goals are just two shy of the NCAA Division II mark. Senior
All-American James Thorpe posted his 47th career shutout in
Thursday's opening round win over Le Moyne to move into sole
possession of second all-time in Division II history.
