NORTHEAST-10 MEN’S TENNIS ALL CONFERENCE TEAMS ANNOUNCED

South Easton, Mass. – Junior Antonio Recalde of Assumption
College has been named the 2007 Northeast-10 Men’s Tennis
Vern Cox Player of the Year. Recalde posted an 11-0 record at
number one singles in conference play and 13-1 overall. He also has
an 11-1 record at number 1 doubles. Recalde also earned All
Conferene First-Team Singles and Doubles honors.
Stonehill College’s freshman Michael Mashkevich posted a
10-1 record in conference play this year for the Skyhawks. He is
14-5 overall and 12-5 at number two singles. Mashkevich also earned
All Conference Second-Team Singles and Doubles honors.
Greg Maloomian of Bentley College earned the F. Paul Bogan
Memorial Sportsmanship Award. Maloomian is 8-8 overall at number
one singles. He also was selected to the All Conference Second-Team
Doubles.
Assumption’s head coach John Ippolito was named the
Northeast-10 Coach of the Year for the fifth time (2000, 01, 03,
05, 07), as selected by the 11 Northeast-10 coaches. Ippolito has
led the Greyhounds to a 15-0 record this season and a conference
record 116 match-winning streak.
Joining Recalde on the All Conference First-Team Singles teammates
Matt Stopp and Jared Dorfman. From Bentley Mike McCrillis, Bryant
University’s Kevin Levinson and Stonehill’s Will
Herchel.
The Northeast-10 All Conference Second-Team Singles included
Mashkevich and teammates Matt Grabala and Dustin Marshall. The team
also included Assumption’s Dave Marshall, Bentley’s
Mike Dolan and Miles Holman and Merrimack College’s Dan
Hrobak.
Named to the All Conference Third-Team Singles are Bentley’s
Greg Avola, Bryant’s Ben Caisse, Merrimack’s Steve
Viglione, Saint Michael’s College’s Craig Lindaberry,
Southern New Hampshire University’s Pedro De Paula and
Stonehill’s Mike Leone.
The Northeast-10 All Conference First-Team Doubles was comprised
of Assumptions Dorfman, Marshall, Recalde and Stopp and
Stonehill’s Andy DeVita and Leone.
The All Conference Second-Team Doubles included Bentley’s
Avola and Maloomian, Merrimack’s Brian Reilly and Viglione
and Stonehill’s Grabala and Mashkevich.
Third-Team Doubles honors included Bentley’s Dolan and
McCrillis and Merrimack’s John Seaward and Adam Wilding.
The Vern Cox Player of the Year Award is named in honor of the
former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox, while the
Bogan Mermorial Sportsmanship Award is named in honor of the late
F. Paul Bogan, Commissioner of the Northeast-10 from 1995-1997.
