Northeast-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week
Kiryl Shada, Pace (So., SP, Pleasant Prairie, WI ) - Posted a 0.66
ERA, while recording a 4-1 record and one save. In a win over St.
Augustine's, tossed four innings, allowing two hits and one run,
while fanning six. In a win over Mt. Olive, hurled a complete-game
shutout and struck out four. In a double header against Virginia
St., went the distance giving up five hits and struck out seven to
earn the win in the opener, while tossing a shutout seventh inning
in game two to earn the save. In a win over Bowie St., pitched a
complete game, allowing two earned runs and three hits, while
fanning one.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kelsey Quealy, Saint Anselm (Fr., C, Plainville, MA) –
Recorded a .417 batting average this past weekend. Had hits in
three of the four games, including 2-for-3 performances against
both Dowling and Adelphi. Finished the weekend going 5-for-12 with
one run scored, two RBI and one double.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Courtney Jacobs, Franklin Pierce (So., SP, Fitchburg, MA) -
Recorded 19.2 innings pitched and 23 strikeouts. Notched a complete
game effort against Albright College, tossing a three hit shutout
with five strikeouts. Hurled a complete game against Bowdoin
College, yielding only three runs while striking out eight.
Collected ten strikeouts while tossing 5.2 innings against
Hillsdale.
Kristen Tracy, Franklin Pierce (Fr., 1B, Putnam Valley, NY) - Had
eight hits in a 1-6 week. Collected a 2-for-4 performance with an
RBI against Hillsdale, while hitting 2-for-3 with a double against
Hillsdale on day two. Went 2-for-4 with two singles in a 4-2 loss
to New York Tech, while connecting for an RBI double in a 4-0
victory over Albright College.
Martha Senko, Le Moyne (Sr., SP, Pine City, NY) - Recorded a
three-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over Dowling while striking out
six batters.
Lindsay Spaziani, Le Moyne (Sr., OF, Horseheads, NY) - Hit .429
(3-for-7) with a double and three runs scored in a 2-0 week. Scored
the only run in a 1-0 victory over Dowling and scored two runs in a
3-1 victory over Dowling.
Stacey Lajoie, UMass Lowell (So., SS, Gardner, MA) - Batted .500
(3 for 6) with two RBI, including a solo home run in a split with
New Haven. In a 2-1 victory, batted 1-for-3 and drove in the
game-winning run in the top of the ninth inning. Highlighted a 3-1
loss in the nightcap with a solo homerun in the second inning.
Kristen Mahoney, UMass Lowell (Sr., SP, Burlington, MA) – In
a 2-1, nine-inning victory over New Haven, allowed five hits, five
walks and an unearned run while striking out eight in a complete
game victory.
Julia Hunt, Pace (Sr., OF, Mahopac, NY) - Went 11-for-30 (.367)
with four runs scored and three RBI in a 7-3 opening week. In a
sweep over St. Augustine's went 2-for-7 with two RBI and a run
scored. In a split with Mt. Olive, batted 2-for-6 with one RBI and
a double. In a sweep over Virginia St., went 3-for-6 with a run
scored and a stolen base.
Patricia Hurley, Pace (So., 1B, Assonet, MA) - Batted .407
(11-for-27) with four doubles, eight runs scored and six RBIs in a
7-3 opening week. In a sweep over St Augustine's, went 3-for-7 with
three runs scored. In a doubleheader sweep over Virginia St.,
batted 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run scored, a double and a
triple. In a pair of wins over Bowie St., went 3-for-6 with two RBI
and one run scored.
Lisa Caruso, Saint Anselm (Fr., SP, Granby, CT) - Was 1-1 this
weekend, picking up a victory with a seven-inning complete game
against Dowling. Gave up just six hits with two earned runs, two
walks and three strikeouts. Overall, went nine innings, giving up
just three earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts with a
compiled earned run average of 2.33.
Jocelyn Savastano, Saint Anselm (Sr., 2B, Plymouth, MA) - Hit .385
in four games this past weekend. Against Dowling, went 2-for-4 with
two runs scored and a double in the 8-2 win. Went a combined
3-for-5 in a doubleheader at Adelphi. Also made 15 putouts
throughout the weekend.
Lindsey Castano, Southern Connecticut (Sr., 3B, Oakdale, CT)
– Had an average of .364 in three games with four hits and
three runs scored. Also had an on base percentage of .364 and had a
.941 fielding percentage with 12 assisted outs.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Courtney Jacobs became the
all-time strikeout leader at Franklin Pierce surpassing the old
mark of 171 by Kalene Wolton. UMASS LOWELL: Kristen Mahoney
shattered the school record for wins in a career with her 53rd in a
2-1 win over New Haven on Sunday.
