Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Kate Thomas, Bryant (Jr., OF, Bedford, N.H.) - Hit .636 with four
extra base hits this past week. Was 5-for-5 in a doubleheader sweep
of Pace, hitting two triples, a home run, a double, scoring four
runs, and driving in three more. Slugged 1.364 on the week and got
on base at a .765 clip. Also played error-free defense in the
field.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Janine Enos, Bryant (Sr., SP, Wareham, Mass.) - Was 3-1 on the week
with a 0.91 ERA. Helping the Bulldogs to a 4-2 week, won both games
of a doubleheader with Franklin Pierce, in which she struck out
eight hitters in five innings and retired the final 13 batters.
Struck out 26 batters in 23 innings for the week, including three
complete games.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Jenna Vannacore, Le Moyne (Fr., SP, Hicksville, N.Y.) - Pitched a
perfect game in win over Molloy, while striking out 11. For the
week, was 2-0 with a 2.62 ERA in three starts.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Kellie Brown, American International (Jr., 1B, Gill, Mass.) -
Batted .350 (7-20) with a homer, two doubles, three runs scored,
four RBI and a .600 slugging percentage in a 3-3 week. Was 3 for 7
with a double, an RBI and a run scored against Bridgeport and went
2 for 6 with a double, two RBI and a run scored against UMass
Lowell.
Tara DeMontier, American International (Sr., 3B, Amesbury, Mass.) -
Batted .375 (6-16) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, five
RBI and a .813 slugging percentage in a 3-3 week. Went 2 for 2 with
a home run and bases-clearing triple in the 5-4 win over Bridgeport
and was 3 for 5 with two doubles and a RBI at Post.
Sara Swepston, American International (So., SP, Dallas, Pa.) - Was
1-1 in three appearances this past week with a 2.19 ERA and eight
strikeouts. Recorded two strikeouts while tossing a complete game
shutout in a doubleheader against UMass Lowell.
Lauren Symonick, Assumption (Sr., SP, Northbridge, Mass.) - Pitched
a complete game victory over Queens, N.Y. in game one of a
doubleheader, allowing just four hits, one earned run, and had
seven strikeouts.
Ashley DeRosa, Bentley (Jr., OF, Wethersfield, Conn.) –
Accounted for five runs, scoring two and driving in three, in the
team’s sweep of Saint Michael’s this past weekend. Was
three for seven with a triple and a walk in the two games.
Kelly Schweikert, Le Moyne (So., SS, Rochester, N.Y.) - In a 5-1
week, had a .455 batting average with 10 hits, three doubles and
four RBI. Scored seven times and collected 16 total bases as she
slugged .727 over six games.
Lindsay Farmer, UMass Lowell (So., SP, Kingston, N.H.) - Hurled a
two-hitter in a 3-0 victory at American International. Allowed two
walks while striking out three in a complete game.
Alton Frisbie, Pace (Sr., 1B, Indian Hills, Colo.) - Batted .333
(8-for-24) with two doubles, a homerun, five runs and seven RBI in
seven games played. Went 5-for-8 with four runs scored, three RBI,
a double and a homerun in a doubleheader split with Caldwell. Went
2-for-5 with a pair of RBI in two games against Bryant. Had a
two-run double in the opening game against Stonehill.
Megan O'Connor, Saint Michael's (Jr., RP, Georgetown, Mass.) -
Pitched a complete game against Bentley in game one of a
double-header, allowing zero earned runs in a 6-2 loss, and
striking out one. Also in the game, batted 2-for-4 with a run.
Megan Caporossi, Southern Connecticut (So., 3B, Northford, Conn.) -
Hit .381 with two home runs and four RBI in six games this past
week. Notched a total of five extra base hits and converted her
only stolen base attempt.
Brittany Gandley, Southern Connecticut (Jr., 1B, Holbrook, N.Y.) -
Batted .421 in six games this week. Hit three home runs and notched
four RBI. Posted a slugging percentage of 1.000 in 19 at-bats.
Amanda Pindar, Southern Connecticut (Jr., SP, New Britain, Conn.) -
Posted a 2-1 record in three starts. Surrendered only two earned
runs in 13 innings pitched for an ERA of 1.08 on the week. Struck
out 12 batters and allowed only one extra base hit.
Ashley Bernstein, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., OF, Stoughton,
Mass.) - Batted .429 (6-14) with five of the six hits went for
extra bases (3 2B, 2 HR). Also registered four RBI for the
week.
Jaime Ippolito, Stonehill (Sr., OF, Chelsea, Mass.) - Hit .357 in
four games in a 3-1 week. Blasted two homeruns, including a
walk-off two-run shot that gave Stonehill a 5-3 win over C.W. Post.
Added three runs scored, five RBI, 11 total bases and a .786
slugging percentage. Also earned a win and a save on the mound,
going 1-0 with a 0..00 ERA in 5.1 innings of relief.
Courtney Young, Stonehill (Jr., 3B, Danvers, Mass.) - Hit .400 for
in a 3-1 week. Two of four hits were homeruns, helping the Skyhawks
to three key victories. The second homerun in the bottom of the
sixth inning gave the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead in an eventual 3-0 win.
Also scored three runs and drove in four to go along with 10 total
bases and had a slugging percentage of 1.000.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Their 7-5 record after 12 games is the
Falcon’s best at that point in the season since the 1995 team
started 8-4.
