Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Laurie Tanguay, UMass Lowell (Sr., OF, Lowell, Mass.) - Batted .630
(17-27) and slugged 1.000 with 12 RBI, 10 runs, three doubles, two
triples and a home run in a 6-2 week. Went 3-3 with four-RBI,
three-run effort in a 10-0 win at Saint Michael's. Also went 4-4
with three runs in a 10-4 win over Saint Anselm; and 3-4 with one
run and one RBI in a 7-5 win over Adelphi. Drove in five runs in
the sweep of Stonehill.
Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Week
Mary Bradford, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., SP, Big Bear, Calif.) -
Posted a 1.50 earned run average and a 3-1 record last week while
holding opponents to a .147 batting average. Posted shutouts in
wins over Franklin Pierce and American International and allowed
just two hits in complete-game victories over Bentley and American
International.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Christine D'Amico, Bentley (Fr., 2B, Shrewsbury, Mass.) - Hit .419
(13-31) during a 4-6 week. Scored eight runs, recorded eight RBI
and slugged .774 with two doubles, three triples and a home run.
Also handled 35 of 36 chances at second base (.972). Had four
multi-hit games, including both games against Merrimack. Was
7-for-12 with runners in scoring position and had six two-out
RBI.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Tara DeMontier, American International (Sr., 3B, Worcester, Mass.)
- Batted .545 with 12 hits as the Yellow Jackets went an even 4-4
in eight games last week. The senior had four extra base hits
including her fifth homerun of the season.
Amanda Monge, Assumption (Sr., C, Reading, Mass.) - Hit .391
(9-for-23, 5 RS, 2 2B, 1 HR, 8 RBI) and slugged .609 (14 TB) in a
4-2 week. Went 4-for-7 with a run scored, 3 RBI, and a double in a
doubleheader sweep of Southern Connecticut. Went 1-for-4 with a
2-run home run in game 1 win over Merrimack. Finished the week by
going 4-for-9 with 3 runs scored, 3 RBI, and a double in a
doubleheader with Saint Anselm.
Marissa Palumbo, Assumption (Fr., SS, Worcester, Mass.) - Hit .500
(11-for-22, 5 RS, 2 2B, 3 RBI) and slugged .591 (13 TB) in a 4-2
week. Went 2-for-7 with a run scored, 2 RBI, and a double in a
doubleheader sweep of Southern Connecticut, 5-for-7 with a run
scored in a doubleheader sweep of Merrimack, and 4-for-8 with 3
runs scored, an RBI, and a double in a doubleheader with Saint
Anselm.
Alex Hitchcock, Bentley (Jr., SS, Abington, Mass.) - Reached the
century mark in career hits and hit .367 (11-30) during a 4-6 week.
Scored seven runs, drove in six and had four doubles. Also walked
six times for an even .500 on base percentage. Had at least two
hits in all five doubleheaders.
Briana Kneeland, Bentley (Sr., OF, Winthrop, Mass.) - Drove in 13
runs and hit .444 (12-27) in eight games during a 4-6 week, missing
two others due to injury. Had a .448 on base percentage, a .741
slugging percentage, two runs scored, two triples, a double and a
homer. Hit safely in every game, had four RBI vs. both Saint Rose
(10-3 win) and Merrimack (11-2 win), and three RBI in a 7-4 win
over New Haven. Was 9-for-16 with runners on base, 5-for-11 with
runners in scoring position, 2-for-3 with the bases loaded and
7-for-11 with 11 RBI with two out.
Kelly Schweikert, Le Moyne (So., SS, Rochester, N.Y.) - In a 5-1
week, led the team with a .647 batting average. Connected for hits
in 11 of 17 at-bats with two doubles and two home runs. Drove in 11
runs and scored eight times.
Sarah Reed, Le Moyne (Sr., OF, DeWitt, N.Y.) - In a 5-1 week, hit
.500 with two doubles and one home run. Drove in nine runs and
scored 10 times. In the circle, recorded one win and registered a
1.62 ERA in 8.2 innings of work.
Jill Gagnon, Merrimack (Jr., SP, Manchester, N.H.) - Threw a
nine-inning complete game shutout, striking out 12, in a 3-0
victory over Saint Michael's.
Kelly Kinyon, Pace (Sr., SS, Levittown, Pa.) - Batted .400
(12-for-30) and slugged .733 with five runs scored, six RBIs and
three homeruns in a 7-3 week. In a sweep over Queens, went 3-for-7
with two homeruns and three runs scored. In a sweep over Saint
Michael's went 4-for-6 with a homerun, two runs scored and three
RBIs.
Christina Pane, Pace (Jr., OF, Stony Point, N.Y.) - Batted .457
(16-for-35) and slugged .743 with four runs scored, eight RBIs, two
doubles, a triple, two homeruns in a 7-3 week. In a split with New
York Tech, went 2-for-7 with one RBI and a pair of doubles. In a
sweep over Queens, went 5-for-8 with a pair of homeruns. In a sweep
over Saint Michael's, went 4-for-8 with four RBIs and a runs
scored.
Christina Rescigno, Pace (Fr., RP, Elmsford, N.Y.) - Went 3-0 with
a 2.80 ERA with four strikeouts in 20 innings pitched. Tossed three
3 2/3 innings allowing one hit, earning the win in relief
appearnace against American International. Tossed a complete game
four-hitter allowing two runs, earning the win over Saint Anselm.
Earned the win in relief against Saint Michael's, allowing six hits
and three runs, while striking out two.
Liz LeBrun, Saint Anselm (Fr., 2B, Rowley, Mass.) - Hit .462 in
eight games for the Hawks last week as the team went 4-4. Was
12-for-26 with six runs scored, two doubles, one triple, two home
runs and six runs batted in, along with an .846 slugging
percentage.
Megan Lemire, Saint Anselm (So., SP, Worcester, Mass.) - Hit .455
for the Hawks in eight games and went 10-for-22 with five runs
scored, three doubles, one home run, three runs batted in and a
.727 slugging percentage. In addition, was 1-2 pitching with a .269
batting average against.
Megan O'Connor, Saint Michael's (Jr., RP, Georgetown, Mass.) -
Pitched a complete game, while striking out three, in a 5-3 win
over UMass-Lowell. In the game, batted 3-for-4 with a pair of runs
batted in. Later in the week versus Southern Connecticut, went
2-for-4 with three RBI in a 7-6 loss. In the week, bolstered a
five-game hitting streak.
Amanda Morano, Saint Rose (So., C, Highland, N.Y.) - Batted .500
(12-for-24) with seven RBI, six doubles and three runs throughout
eight games last week. Slugged .750, registered a .520 on base
percentage and hit safely in seven of the eight contests. In a
doubleheader versus Le Moyne on Monday, went 4-for-6 and drove in a
pair. In a victory at Saint Anselm on Thursday, was 3-for-4 with
three doubles, two RBI and a run.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Has now improved on last year's victory
total by 11 games, with its 13-13 record its best at this point in
the season since the 1995 team was also at .500 after 26 games.
Senior OF Briana Kneeland (Winthrop, Mass.) already has 25 RBI, the
most by a Bentley player in 13 years. Junior SS Alex Hitchcock
(Abington, Mass.) became the second Falcon this year and the 15th
all-time to reach the century mark in career hits. Sophomore Ashley
Messina (Hanover, Mass.) has yet to issue a walk this season and
has pitched 92 straight innings since her last free pass.
