Northeast-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week
Jennifer Farrelly, Le Moyne (Sr., SP, Latham, N.Y.) - Hit .733
(11-for-15) with three home runs, 11 RBI and five runs scored,
while also going 4-1 in the pitcher's circle with a 0.94 ERA and 20
strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched. Went 5-for-5 with three home
runs and eight RBI and picked up a victory in a doubleheader sweep
of Merrimack. Struck out six batters in a complete-game shutout at
Assumption.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kristen Dolan, American International (Fr., SP, Norwood, Mass.) -
Went 2-1 with a 0.90 ERA and 24 strikeouts in three complete games
last week. Tossed a complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts in a
2-0 win over Saint Rose, allowed one run with nine K’s in a
2-1 complete-game win against Franklin Pierce and allowed one run
while fanning six at New Haven.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Tara DeMontier, American International (Sr., 3B, Amesbury, Mass.)
- Batted .412 (7-17) with two doubles, three RBI and three runs
scored last week. Went 2-for-3 with an RBI-double at New Haven and
was 1-for-3 with a run scored in a 2-0 win over Saint Rose. Closed
the week with a 3-for-5 showing in a sweep of Franklin Pierce. Went
2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in a 5-0
game-two win over the Ravens.
Deanna Zanetti, American International (Sr., SS, Hampden, Mass.) -
Batted .412 (7-17) with a double, a homerun, two RBI and three runs
scored. Went 2-for-3 with a first inning solo homerun in a 2-0 win
over Saint Rose and finished 4-for-6 in the sweep of the Golden
Knights. Went 3-for-6 with a double and two runs scored in a sweep
of Franklin Pierce. Was 1-for-3 with an RBI double and scored the
game-winning run in the 2-1 game-one victory over the Ravens.
Bernadette Fuentes, Assumption (So., OF, Hicksville, N.Y.) - In a
3-3 week, led the team in hitting with a .467 average. Had seven
hits and scored two runs including the game winning run against
LeMoyne. Had one double and batted in four runs.
Jennifer Lowrey, Assumption (Fr., SP, Assonet, Mass.) - Pitched a
complete game victory over #25 ranked LeMoyne. Struck out eight and
surrendered seven hits. On the week made three total apperances
striking out 17 in 13.1 innings pitched.
Christine D'Amico, Bentley (So., 2B, Shrewsbury, Mass.) - In a 4-2
week, hit .353 (6-17), slugged .588 and drove in nine runs. Scored
once and walked three times for a .450 on base percentage. Had
three RBI in a doubleheader split with Assumption, and drove in
five runs in a 7-1 win at Saint Rose.
Jasmine Ortiz, Bentley (Fr., 3B, Hamden, Conn.) - During a 4-2
week, hit .409 (9-23) with seven runs scored, four RBI, three
doubles and two walks. Had a .545 slugging percentage and a .458 on
base percentage. Also handled 29 chances in the field without an
error. Had a pair of three-hit games, against both UMass-Lowell and
Saint Rose.
Kelsey Ellis, Merrimack (So., 3B, Vancouver, BC) - Batted .470
getting 16 hits, 10 RBI, and six steals in 34 at-bats, including a
grand slam at Saint Rose.
Jill Gagnon, Merrimack (Sr., SP, Manchester, N.H.) - Struck out 36
hitters in 30.2 innings, while throwing two complete-game shutouts,
including a one-hit, 12-strikeout performance in a 5-0 win over
Stonehill. Also batted .447 with 10 RBI, 10 runs scored, and a
grand slam at the plate.
Nicole Downs, New Haven (Jr., C, Seymour, Conn.) - Hit .450
(9-for-20) with two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored in eight
games this past week. Went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two
RBI in a doubleheader against Saint Anselm.
Breanne Gleason, New Haven (Jr., SP, Bristol, Conn.) - Made five
starts and eight total appearances this past week, finishing with a
0.81 ERA in 43.0 innings pitched. Totaled 48 strikeouts while
allowing only six walks. Pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout
with 10 strikeouts against American International. Had 13
strikeouts over seven shutout innings against Saint Anselm.
Trish Allutto, Pace (Sr., C, Matawan, N.J.) - Batted .348
(8-for-23), while slugging .870 with four homeruns, 12 RBI and six
runs scored. Went 4-for-8 in a twin bill split against Queens with
five RBI and two homeruns. In a doubleheader split with Southern
New Hampshire, went 3-for-6 with two homeruns and five RBI.
Brittnee O’Neill, Saint Anselm (So., SP, Ashland, Mass.) -
Made two appearances last week, posting a 1-0 record and a 2.33
earned run average. Highlighted the by a complete-game, nine-inning
win at Franklin Pierce. In that game, scattered six hits and
allowed three earned runs while walking just one and striking out
four.
Megan Caporossi, Southern Connecticut (Jr. , SS, Northford, Conn.)
- Closed out the week going 8-for-20 (.400) with five RBI and four
runs scored in six games. At Saint Rose, recorded three hits, two
RBI and a run scored in the victory.
Kelsey Griffin, Southern New Hampshire (So., RP, Scarborough,
Maine) - Was 3-0 with a 0.84 earned run average and .123 opponent
batting average in three relief appearances. Did not allow a hit in
five innings of relief against Saint Michael's and in 4.1 innings
of relief against New Haven. Struck out 17 in 16.2 innings of work
for the week.
Valerie Martins, Southern New Hampshire (Sr., 2B, Somerset, Mass.)
- Batted .417 (10-24) with a home run and eight runs batted in a
7-1 week. Went 5-for-8 with five runs batted in a doubleheader
sweep of Saint Michael's.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Alex Hitchcock (Abington, Mass.) has
moved within two of the Bentley career record for hits (147), set
by Lauren Frazier from 2001-04. With 431 career assists, she also
needs just two to become Bentley’s all-time leader in that
category. Bentley, at 12-8, has its best 20-game record since 1987,
and is four games over .500 for the first time since 1995.
