Northeast-10 Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week
Tom Ferrigno, Bryant (Jr., West Chester, Pa.) - Broke two Bryant
records and won a trio of individual events in the 145-117 win over
Bentley. Took first in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:27.15), the
100-yard backstroke (55.11-school record) and the 200-yard
backstroke (2:01.14-school record). Also swam the first leg of the
winning 400-yard freestyle relay.
Northeast-10 Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week
Liza Connolly, Bentley (Sr., Washington, Conn.) - In a 1-1 week,
won all seven events in which she participated. Against Gordon,
posted individual wins in the 50 free (25.94) and the 100
individual medley (1:05.28). Swept the three shortest freestyle
events against Bryant, with times of 25.91 in the 50, 56.37 in the
100 and 2:00.96 in the 200. Also was a member of a winning relay
team in each meet.
Northeast-10 Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week
Ed Fennessey, Saint Michael's (Sr., Wilton, Conn.) - Placed second
in both one-meter diving events in a 162-106 loss to Colby-Sawyer
this past weekend.
Northeast-10 Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week
Tierney Carey, Saint Michael's (Jr., Newton, Conn.) - Placed first
and second in the two one-meter diving events to help Saint
Michael's defeat Colby-Sawyer 210-90.
Northeast-10 Men’s Freshman of the Week
Steven Nguyen, Bryant (Fr., San Jose, Calif.) - Set three new
Bryant records and recorded two wins in the 145-117 win over
Bentley. Won the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.47–school record)
and the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.88–school record). Set a
third school record with a second-place finish in the 100-yard IM
(57.95) and also raced in the 400-yard freestyle relay win.
Northeast-10 Women’s Freshman of the Week
Amy Howell, Bryant (Fr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) – In the 134-128
win over Bentley, had two individual first-place finishes and a
pair of Bryant school records. Won the 1000-yard freestyle
(11:04.63-new school record) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.88).
Set a second record with a second-place finish in the 200-yard
butterfly (2:18.25). Also anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle
relay team.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Arthur Engelhard, Bentley (Sr., Apalachin, N.Y.) - Posted victories
in the 100 butterfly (56.67) against Bryant and both the 100 fly
(56.26) and 500 free (5:19.05) at Gordon. In the Bryant meet, also
finished second in both the 100 back (55.71) and 200 back
(2:04.72), and was a member of the Falcons’ second-place 200
medley relay team (1:42.02). Helped Bentley win the 200 medley
relay against Gordon (1:49.05) and also was part of the Falcons'
200 free relay that finished third (1:38.83).
Anne Kaduboski, Bentley (Fr., Dedham, Mass.) - Recorded victories
in the 1000 free (11:08.40) and 100 free (57.10), and was a member
of the second-place 200 free relay team (1:51.90) against Gordon.
In the Bryant meet, finished first in the 100 fly (1:01.54) and the
200 fly (2:15.16), helped Falcons win the 200 free relay (1:56.59)
and finished second in the 1000 free (11:15.16).
Sam Laden, Bentley (So., Cheshire, Conn.) - Accounted for two of
Bentley's three wins in the Bryant meet, capturing the 200
breaststroke (2:19.12) and the 100 individual medley (57.94). Also
finished second in the 100 breast (1:02.53) and helped Falcons to
second in the 200 medley relay (1:42.02). Against Gordon, was first
in the 50 back (28.93) , second in the 100 IM (59.38) and a member
of the 200 medley team that was third (1:52.98).
Jess Looney, Bryant (So., Goffstown, N.H.) - Won two events in the
134-128 win over Bentley, breaking one school record. Won the
100-yard IM (1:04.49-new school record) and the 200-yard backstroke
(2:16.69). Also led off the winning 400-yard freestyle relay.
Erin Johanson, Pace (So., Wakefield, Mass.) - Took home first place
finishes in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.79 and the
100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.90 in a dual meet with
Adelphi.
Meaghan Morley, Pace (Sr., Delhi, N.Y.) - Took home first place
finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.70 and the
100-yard freestyle with a time of 57.74 in a dual meet with
Adelphi.
Ryosuke Kameyama, Pace (Fr., Goshen, N.Y.) - Took second place
finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.97 and the
100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.11 in a dual meet with
Adelphi.
Mary Beth Casey, Saint Michael's (So., Sturbridge, Mass.) - Led
Saint Michael's to a 210-90 win over Colby-Sawyer winning the
1,000-yard Freestyle in a time of 11:56.34, and the 500-yard
Freestyle in a time of 5:49.47.
Mike Kaas, Saint Michael's (Sr., West Haven, Conn.) - Won the
100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.40 and finished third in
the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.57 in a 162-106 loss to
Colby-Sawyer.
Gene Taylor, Saint Michael's (Fr., Marmora, N.J.) - Captured first
in both the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 31.09 and
1:08.72, respectively. Also won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:17.49
in a 162-106 loss to Colby-Sawyer.
Elizabeth Tuxbury, Saint Michael's (So., New Hartford, Conn.) - Won
the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 36.14 and placed second in
the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:20.67. Saint Michael's
would go on to win 216-90 in a dual meet with Colby-Sawyer.
Catherine Watt, Saint Michael's (Fr., Cumberland, Maine) - Won the
100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.44 and placed second in both
the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:19.65) and 500-yard freestyle
(6:00.43), helping Saint Michael's to a 210-90 win over
Colby-Sawyer.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: With the men’s team win over Le
Moyne on Nov. 3, Bentley coach Mary Kay Samko notched her 300th
career victory.
BRYANT: The Bulldogs broke 13 school records in wins over
Bentley Saturday on the road. Freshman Amy Howell set two new
Bryant top times, while sophomore Jess Looney and freshmen Jill
Squillante and Lisa Zanchi all set one. On the men’s side,
eight new records were set: freshman Steven Nguyen set three school
records while junior Tom Ferrigno broke two. James Newton, John
Cieslewski and Matt Derwin also set one apiece.
