Northeast-10 Men’ s Swimming Athlete of the
Week
Aaron Rocheleau, Southern Connecticut (So., Newington, Conn.)
– Was named the Northeast-10 Most Valuable Athlete at the
NE-10 Championships after finishing first in the 200 yard IM
(1:57.56) and the 500 yard freestyle (4:40.93) breaking the
Northeast-10 record by nearly eight seconds. Was also part of three
first place relay victories.
Northeast-10 Women’s Swimming Athlete of the
Week
Kristen Frost, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Madison, Conn.) –
Took home victories in the 200 yard backstroke (2:04.11), 50 yard
freestyle (24.66), 100 yard freestyle (52.38) and the 200 butterfly
(2:01.91) at the Northeast-10 Championships. Set new NE-10 records
in each event and qualified for the NCAA’s A Cut in the 200
butterfly. Was named Most Valuable Athlete of the championship.
Northeast-10 Men’s Diving Athlete of the
Week
Jon Andrews, Bentley (So., Southbury, Conn.) - Was named the Most
Valuable Diver of the NE-10 Championships after capturing both
diving events. Posted scores of 369.20 on the three-meter board and
397.80 on the one-meter.
Northeast-10 Women’s Diving Athlete and Freshman of
the Week
Amanda Burden, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Orange, Conn.) - Finished
on top in the Northeast-10 Championship diving events. Won the
one-meter diving event with a score of 337.25 and the three-meter
event with 345.05. Was named the championship’s Most Valuable
Diver.
Northeast-10 Men’s Freshman of the Week
Ryan Brauer, Saint Rose (Fr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) - Registered two
first place finishes along with a pair of second place performances
at the NE-10 Championships. Established both meet and school
records in the 400 individual medley after hitting the wall with a
first place time of 4:05.92. Also won the 100 butterfly behind a
52.23 clocking and went on to registered school marks in the 500
free (4:43.55) and the 200 butterfly (1:55.44) while placing second
in both events.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Anne Kaduboski, Bentley (So., Dedham, Mass.) - During the
Northeast-10 championships, set an NE-10 and school record of 57.62
seconds while winning the 100 yard butterfly, and posted the first
A-cut time in school history with a second-place finish in the 200
fly (2:04.12). Also placed third in the 200 free (1:58.44) and
fourth in the 100 free (55.66), and was part of three relays (two
fourths, one third). Was directly responsible for 91 of
Bentley’s 495.5 points.
Drew Acquaviva, Le Moyne (Fr., Delmar, N.Y.) - Teamed for a relay
victory and added a pair of second-place finishes to lead the
Dolphins to a third-place finish at the Northeast-10 Championships.
Earned a first-place finish as a member of the 400 free relay.
Tallied second-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (52.94) and as
a member of the 200 medley relay team.
Ricky Chidsey, Le Moyne (Sr., Liverpool, N.Y.) - Registered two
individual victories and teamed for a relay victory and added three
second-place finishes (2 individual, 1 relay) to lead the Dolphins
to a second-place finish at the Northeast-10 Championships. Earned
victories in the 200 backstroke and the 100 backstroke and recorded
a first-place finish as a member of the 400 free relay. Tallied
second-place finishes in the 50 free, 100 free and was part of the
200 medley relay team.
Katie O'Donnell, Le Moyne (Fr., Delmar, N.Y.) - Registered two
individual victories and teamed for a relay victory and added four
second-place finishes (2 individual, 2 relays) to lead the Dolphins
to a second-place finish at the Northeast-10 Championships. Earned
victories in the 400 IM and the 100 backstroke and recorded a
first-place finish as a member of the 200 medley relay. Tallied
second-place finishes in the 200 backstroke, 200 IM and as a member
of the 400 medley relay and 400 free relay teams.
Cassandra Gentile, Pace (Fr., Cortland Manor, N.Y.) - Had a pair of
second place finishes in the one-meter and three-meter diving
events at the Northeast-10 Championships.
Eileen Mullowney, Saint Michael's (Fr., Burlington, Vt.) - Had
three top-three finishes, breaking the program record in each
event, at the NE-10 Championships. Won the 200-yard freestyle
(1:55.97, breaking her program record by more than a second),
finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (53.96, eclipsing her
program record by nearly a second) and took third in the 50-yard
freestyle (25.19, besting a program record that had stood 5 1/2
years).
Cody Hall, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Parker, Colo.) - Was part of
a first place finish in the 400 yard freestyle event (3:54.38),
which set a new Northeast-10 record. In the 200 yard IM event, led
the way taking home a first place finish for the Owls. Swam the
race in 2:08.45 and set a new Northeast-10 meet record in the
process.
Austin Mizzell, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Bristol, Conn.) –
At the Northeast-10 Championships, finished first in the 200 yard
breaststroke with a time of 2:06.83, which was good enough for a
new Northeast-10 record. Captured the 100 yard breaststroke event
with a time of 57.89, which set a new NE-10 record as well. Was
also part of two first place relay teams.
Miguel Nesrala, Southern Connecticut (Fr., Santo Domingo, D.R.)
– Won the 50 yard freestyle event with a time of 20.98 and
the 100 yard freestyle in 45.33 at the Northeast-10 championships.
Qualified for the NCAA A-Cut in the 100 yard freestyle and set a
new NE-10 meet record in the process. Also finished third in the
100 yard backstroke and was part of two first-place relay
teams.
Benjamin Prue, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Alpharetta, Ga.) –
Finished in second place in the 100 yard butterfly at the
Northeast-10 Championships in a time of 52.84. Took home the gold
in the 200 yard nutterfly, completing the heat with a time of
1:54.14. In addition, was part of two first place relay
finishes.
Emily Sundel, Southern Connecticut (Jr., West Hartford, Conn.) -
Won the 1650 Freestyle event with a time of 17:56.85 to open the
Northeast-10 championships. Also won the 500 yard freestyle event
in a time of 5:12.41.
Maria Zenoni, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Santo Domingo, D.R.)
– Won the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:26.53, setting a new
Northeast-10 championship record. In addition, finished second in
the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:41.34. Also added a third place
finish in the 100 yard breaststroke event with a time of
1:10.50.
Weekly Notes:
ASSUMPTION: In Assumption College's first
appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship the
Greyhounds set 25 individual bests and broke 13 team records.
PACE: The men's and women's 200-yard medley relay
school records were broken at the Northeast-10 Championships. The
women's team posted a time of 1:57.32 beating the 2006 record of
1:59.01. The men's team eclipsed the school record set in 2006 of
1:48.87 posting a time of 1:47.42 at the NE-10 Championships.
SAINT MICHAEL’S: Four program records were set by
the Purple Knight women at the NE-10 Championships over the
weekend. Freshman Eileen Mullowney broke three records, in the
50-yard freestyle (25.19), the 100-yard freestyle (53.96) and the
200-yard freestyle (1:55.97, winning the event), while senior
Tierney Carey (Newtown, Conn.) broke her own program record in the
three-meter dive (262.65 points).
