New Haven Repeats As Regular Season Champion; Earns Top Seed in Upcoming NE-10 Championship

South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven volleyball team completed its second straight undefeated regular season in conference play to earn the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Volleyball Championship which will be held from Nov. 13-14 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The Chargers went 15-0 and in the process claimed their second straight Northeast-10 Regular Season Championship. The team is currently 24-4 overall and have won 11 straight matches.

Adelphi University (25-8, 14-1 NE-10), in its first season as a member of the Northeast-10, is seeded second in this year’s championship. Bentley University (16-11, 11-4 NE-10) and UMass Lowell (19-9, 11-4 NE-10) finished tied for third place in the standings however, the Falcons received the third seed in the championship due to their regular season win over the River Hawks.

The next four seeds were sorted based upon the conference’s tie-breaking procedures as all four teams finished tied in conference play with a 9-6 record. Pace University (17-10, 9-6 NE-10) came out as the fifth seed, followed in order by Le Moyne College (17-9, 9-6 NE-10), American International College (23-9, 9-6 NE-10) and Southern Connecticut State University (25-9, 9-6 NE-10).

Quarterfinal action begins on Friday, Nov. 13 with #2 Adelphi versus #7 American International and #3 Bentley facing #6 Le Moyne at 5 p.m., while #1 New Haven and #8 Southern Connecticut will face off at 7:30 p.m. along with #4 UMass Lowell versus #5 Pace.

The semifinals are set for Saturday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. with the winner of New Haven/Southern Connecticut taking on the winner of UMass Lowell/Pace and the winner of Adelphi/American International facing the winner of Bentley/Le Moyne. The championship final will follow later that evening at 7 p.m. with the two semifinal winners.

With 16 member institutions the Northeast-10 shares the distinction of being the largest Division II conference in the country along with the PSAC and WVIAC.
