Pace Women's Basketball Team Ranked 6th in the WBCA 2005-06 Academic Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division II

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University women's basketball team posted a combined 3.52 grade-point-average, landing them in the 6th spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2005-06 Academic Team Honor Roll for NCAA Division II. The award recognizes teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade-point-averages for the 2005-06 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA-member coaches.

Head coach Carrie Seymour, who was also named the 2005-06 Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Division II Coach of the Year, led a team that posted a 21-8 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Northeast regional for the second consecutive year. The WBCA Honor Roll selection was the second consecutive year the team landed in the top 25 among all NCAA Division II institutions nationally.

Director of Athletics Joseph O'Donnell commented, "We are very proud of all our athletes. Earning an award as prestigious as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Academic Honor Roll is a sign that our student-athletes are committed to academic, as well as athletic, excellence."

Aside from the WBCA Academic Honor Roll, the 2005-06 women's basketball team also had two players earn Northeast-10 Conference and ESPN The Magazine Academic All America honors.

Ashley Wallace, who was also named to the Northeast-10 Conference 3rd team in addition to being named the Pace University Female Athlete of the Year, was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All Academic 1st team and the ESPN The Magazine Academic All America District 1 College Divsion 2nd team. Wallace posted a Northeast-10 Conference high grade-point-average of 3.97 in Secondary Education. Both players were also selected for the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association 3rd team as well.

Jesse Dlabola was named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic 1st Team as well as the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division District I 3rd Team.

Pace was the only Northeast-10 Conference team in the WBCA Academic Top 25.
