Saint Anselm Names Leazier as Women's Basketball Head Coach

Manchester, N.H. (May 23, 2007) -- Chris Leazier has been named as
the Saint Anselm women's basketball head coach, announced Ed
Cannon, director of athletics.
"We would like to welcome Chris to our staff and feel that his
experience and history of success will help re-energize our women's
basketball program," said Cannon. "He has proven that he has the
ability to recruit quality student-athletes to a strong academic
setting and we hope that he will provide a strong foundation for a
program in the upcoming years."
Leazier comes to the Hilltop after serving as an assistant coach at
Dartmouth College since 2002. He helped guide the Big Green to a
pair of Ivy League Championships (2005, 2006), a string of five
consecutive winning seasons, a 50-20 Ivy League record and an
overall mark of 85-56. Leazier assisted in the development of a
number of outstanding players at Dartmouth, including the 2007 Ivy
League Player of the Year, the 2004 Ivy League Rookie of the Year
and 14 players who earned All-Ivy League recognition.
Leazier's coaching career began in 1995 at St. Ignatius College
Prep in Chicago, Illinois, and Central College in 1996-1997 before
he headed to the Northeast as the head boy's basketball coach at
Thetford Academy in Vermont. After serving as head coach at
Thetford from 1997-2000, Leazier joined the Dartmouth staff as a
men's assistant coach in 2000 before eventually moving into his
position with the women's program after two seasons.
A graduate of Miami (OH) University, Leazier graduated in 1992 with
a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy. He earned his master's in
1996 from DePaul University, graduating with a distinction with a
degree in philosophy. He currently resides in Norwich, Vt., with
his wife, Amy, and three children, Clark, Oliver and Isabelle.
