Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Elizabeth Buckley, Saint Rose (So., G, East Lyme, Conn.) - Scored
32 points in an 85-71 win over Bryant. Finished 9-of-15 from the
floor, including a 6-for-9 effort from beyond the arc, and was
8-of-10 from the foul line in the victory. Also pulled down four
rebounds and recorded one assist, a steal and a blocked shot.
Northeast-10 Co-Freshman of the Week
Tori Ahrens, Franklin Pierce (Fr., C, East Greenwich, R.I.) -
Posted a double-double in the 83-64 win against Southern
Connecticut in the team’s lone game of the week. Scored 13
points and recorded ten rebounds (six offensive) to go with a
blocked shot.
Amy Voelkel, Saint Rose (Fr., G, Mohegan Lake, N.Y.) - Scored 11
points in an 85-71 victory over Bryant in the team’s lone
game of the week. Also contributed eight rebounds, three blocks,
three steals and two assists in the contest, while shooting 3-of-4
from beyond the arc.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Stacy Boisvert, American International (Jr., F, Agawam, Mass.) -
Averaged 14.5 points and six rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 15
points with eight rebounds and four assists in the win over
Southern New Hampshire and netted 14 points with six boards at C.W.
Post.
Alexis Castro, American International (Sr., F, Chula Vista, Calif.)
- Averaged 13.5 points and five rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 16
points and grabbed six rebounds in a win over Southern New
Hampshire and netted 11 points with four rebounds at C.W. Post.
Charde Floyd, Assumption (Sr., F, Worcester, Mass.) - Averaged a
double-double (11.0 points, 14.0 rebounds) while shooting 50.0
percent (8-16 FG) in a 2-0 week. Had nine points, 13 rebounds and
three assists in a win over UMass Lowell. Scored 13 points (5-8
FG), recorded 15 rebounds and added four steals in a win over Le
Moyne.
Bethany Plasski, Assumption (Jr., G, Fall River, Mass.) - Averaged
12 points (10-12 FT) in a 2-0 week. Scored six points in a win over
UMass Lowell and scored 18 points (7-8 FT) in a win at Le
Moyne.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port, England)
- In an 83-64 win at Southern Connecticut , scored 24 points,
recorded seven rebounds, five assists, five steals and a blocked
shot in the team’s lone game of the week. Hit 8-of-15 shot
from the field, including 2-3 three-pointers, and converted all six
free-throw attempts.
Vanessa Power, Franklin Pierce (Jr., G, Mildura, Australia) -
Netted 15 points off the bench in the 83-64 win at Southern
Connecticut State in the team’s lone game of the week. Hit
6-of-11 shots from the field, including 3-of-6 three-pointers,
while adding three rebounds (two offensive) and two steals.
Liron Asher, UMass Lowell (Sr., F, Givataim, Israel) - Posted
averages of 15 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting .529 from the
field (9-17) in losses at Assumption (61-53) and Saint Anselm
(61-60). Scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss at
Assumption and followed with 17 points and seven rebounds in the
loss at Saint Anselm.
Amanda Shannon, Merrimack (Jr., G, North Andover, Mass.) - Averaged
20 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games this past week. Scored 29
points and recorded five rebounds against Pace, while shooting
11-for-23 from the field.
Taylor Losey, Pace (So., F, Bristol, Conn.) - Scored 27 points
while shooting 5-for-12 from long range and was a perfect 8-for-8
from the free throw line. Also contributed four boards in the 68-61
win over Merrimack.
Erin Higgins, Saint Anselm (So., G, Mansfield, Mass.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5
steals per game. Also shot 42.9 percent from the field and 33.3
percent from three-point land. Her most important assist of the
week was her last as she found Courtney May under the basket as
time expired for the game-winning basket versus UMass Lowell.
Cassaundra Thorpe, Saint Anselm (Sr., F, Portsmouth, N.H.) - In a
1-1 week, averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and shot 47.6 percent
from the field and 83.3 percent from the free throw line. Scored 15
points on 6-for-10 shooting in a buzzer-beater win over UMass
Lowell.
Ashley Anderson, Saint Rose (Jr., F, Portland, Maine) - Registered
her third double-double within the past four games behind 11 points
and 12 rebounds in an 85-71 victory over Bryant. Also had three
assists in the game and pulled down 12 rebounds (eight
offensive).
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) - Averaged
19 points and 5.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Scored 16 points and
grabbed seven rebounds in the win at West Florida. Scored 22
points, grabbed four rebounds, handed out three assists, recorded
three steals and blocked a shot against Franklin Pierce.
Julia Houghtaling, Southern New Hampshire (So., F, Franconia, N.H.)
- Registered 18 points and five rebounds in the team’s lone
game last week, a setback to American International.
Kelsey Simonds, Stonehill (Jr., F, Middleboro, Mass.) - Averaged 18
points, 8.5 rebounds and four blocks in a 2-0 week. In a 60-43 win
over Saint Anselm, scored 22 points, recorded nine rebounds and
three blocks, while shooting 10-for-16 from the field. Then in a
defensive contest, scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and
swatted away five more shots. For the week, she shot 55 percent
from the field (15-27) and 83 percent (5-6) from the line.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Tuesday's game at Franklin Pierce will be
the 700th as Bentley head coach for Women's Basketball Hall of
Famer Barbara Stevens.
SAINT ROSE: Senior forward Emily Gottstein
recorded the 500th rebound of her career in Saturday's victory over
Bryant. With 12 boards in the contest, Gottstein now has 505 career
rebounds. Saint Rose also improved to 4-0 on the year when stepping
to the line at least 23 times in a game.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Rochelle Johnson recorded
her 74th career block with 18:15 remaining in the first half on
Saturday against Franklin Pierce to move ahead of Debbie Petrasek
as the all-time leader at Southern Connecticut.
STONEHILL: With her eight blocks last week, giving her 32
for the season, Kelsey Simonds moved into fourth on the school's
all-time rejections list with 85. The single-season record of 62,
set by Sue Patchett, is only 30 away. This weekend, Saint
Michael’s became one of three opponents this year to lose by
less than double-digits to the Skyhawks. The average margin of
victory for Stonehill is 15.5 points. The Skyhawks have yet to
allow a team shoot better than 40- percent from the field.
