Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) - Notched
a pair of double-doubles last week, averaging 22.5 points, 12.5
rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game. Scored 25 points,
recorded 10 rebounds, dished out seven assists and collected two
steals against Pace. Scored 20 points, grabbed 15 boards, handed
out two assists and notched five steals versus Bryant.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Molly Griffiths, Assumption (Fr., F, Walpole, Mass.) –
Averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game in a 1-1 week.
Recorded a double-double with 18 points (6-10 FG, 2-3 3FG) and 12
rebounds in a win over Merrimack.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Stacy Boisvert, American International (Jr., F, Agawam, Mass.) -
Averaged 12 points and five rebounds in a 2-0 week. Scored 12
points with four rebounds in a win over Bentley and netted 12
points with six boards and two steals in a victory at Saint
Rose.
Alexis Castro, American International (Sr., F, Chula Vista, Calif.)
- Averaged a double-double in a 2-0 week with 14 points and 11
rebounds per game. Scored 19 points with 12 boards and six assists
in the win over Bentley and netted nine points with 11 rebounds in
a victory at Saint Rose.
Jeannette Johnathan, American International (Jr., G, Central Islip,
N.Y.) - Averaged 16 points on 11-of-17 (7-7 3FG) shooting, two
rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 2-0 week. Scored 16
points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and was 3-for-3 from
three-point range to go with three rebounds, three assists and two
steals in a win over Bentley. Scored 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting
and a 4-for-4 performance from downtown at Saint Rose.
Sara Czarnecki, Assumption (Sr., F, Cumberland, R.I.) - Averaged
9.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, two steals, and 2.5 blocks in a 1-1
week. Had seven points, 11 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals in
a win over Merrimack. Recorded a double-double with 12 points (4-8
FG), 12 rebounds, and two steals versus Stonehill.
Bethany Plasski, Assumption (Jr., G, Fall River, Mass.) - Averaged
18 points in a 1-1 week. Had 14 points in a win over Merrimack.
Scored 22 points and had two assists versus Stonehill.
Kelsey O'Keefe, Bryant (So., F, Warren, Mass.) - Averaged 13 points
and eight rebounds per game in two game this past week. Scored 26
points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor in the win over Southern
Connecticut. Posted a double-double with 12 rebounds in the game
and made three 3-pointers and blocked two shots.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port, England)
- Scored 18 of her 28 points in the first half in a win over
Merrimack in the team’s lone game of the week. Made 7-of-13
shots from the field, including 4-of-5 three-pointers, and
converted 10-of-11 free-throws, while also collecting seven
assists, six rebounds and three steals.
Courtney Coryea, Le Moyne (So., F, Mooers Forks, N.Y.) - In a 58-46
victory over Saint Anselm, scored 19 points and recorded 10
rebounds. Connected on 8-of-14 and added two blocks in the
victory.
Stephanie Klingele, Pace (Sr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - Averaged
18 points, six rebounds, two assists and 1.5 steals, while shooting
15-for-27 from the field. Recorded a double-double with 20 points
and 10 boards, while shooting 8-for-14 from the field in a
one-point win over Southern Connecticut. Tallied 16 points, two
rebounds, three assists and two steals, while shooting 7-for-13
from the field in a win over Saint Michael's.
Taylor Losey, Pace (So., F, Bristol, Conn.) - Averaged 17 points,
4.5 rebounds and two steals, while shooting 12-for-25 from the
field in a 2-0 week. Scored 21 points on 7-for-14 shooting, while
chipping five rebounds in a one-point win over Southern
Connecticut. Totaled 13 points, four caroms and three steals, while
shooting 5-for-11 from the field in a win over Saint Michael's.
Cassaundra Thorpe, Saint Anselm (Sr., F, Portsmouth, N.H.) -
Averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this past week. Also
shot 60 percent from the field (12-for-20) and 81 percent from the
free throw line (17-for-21). Had 21 points and eight rebounds on
9-of-15 shooting from the field versus Saint Rose. Ended the week
with a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double performance at Le
Moyne.
Dana Brown, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Elmont, N.Y.) - Averaged 23.5
points and three rebounds in a 1-1 week. Shot 44.1 percent
(15-for-34) from the field, shot 69.2 percent (9-for-13) from
beyond the arc and buried 8-of-10 free throws. In a 59-53 victory
at Saint Anselm, tossed in 26 points on a perfect 4-for-4 effort
from long range and the stripe. Hit 5-of-9 shots from deep en route
to a game-high 21 points versus American International.
Emily Gottstein, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Albany, N.Y.) - Averaged a
double-double behind 13 points and 12.5 rebounds during a 1-1 week.
In a 59-53 win at Saint Anselm, finished with 13 points and 14
rebounds. In the setback versus American International, registered
a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.
Kelsey Simonds, Stonehill (Jr., F, Middleboro, Mass.) - Averaged
13.5 points, eight rebounds and three blocks in a 2-0 week. Scored
17 points and recorded seven rebounds to go along with three blocks
and two assists in the win over Southern New Hampshire. In a win
over Assumption, had 10 points and eight rebounds, with eight
points and seven boards coming in the second half.
Erika Stupinski, Stonehill (Sr., G, Topsham, Maine) - Averaged 16
points, 5.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists and two steals in a 2-0 week. In
a win over Southern New Hampshire, had 11 points, eight assists and
five rebounds. Then in a come-from-behind win over Assumption,
netted 21 points, while adding nine assists, six rebounds and three
steals. Four of her 21 points came in the final 1:42, including two
game-clinching free throws with 10 seconds left.
Weekly Notes:
ASSUMPTION: Junior guard Bethany Plasski scored
her 1,000th career point on a free throw with 15:36 left in the
second half. She is the third Greyhound basketball player to record
1,000 points (Charde Floyd, Corey Diethorn) this season (Greg
Twomey is just 32 points away from 1,000).
BENTLEY: Hall of Fame coach Barbara Stevens became
the sixth NCAA women's basketball coach to reach the 750 career win
plateau with a 57-46 win over UMass-Lowell Saturday. Tuesday's game
at Assumption will be the 1,000th in Bentley women's basketball
history, and the Falcons will be seeking their 800th win all-time
in that one. Currently, the only Division II program with 800 wins
is Delta State.
FRANKLIN PIERCE: The Ravens have clinched a first round
bye in the upcoming NE-10 Tournament for the first time since
joining the Conference in 2000. The Ravens reached the 20-win
plateau for the first time since 1998-99, their last NCAA
Tournament appearance.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: On Wednesday against Pace, Kate
Lynch collected her 600th career rebound and became the first
player in school history to reach both 1,600 career points and 600
career rebounds.
