Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Emily Gottstein, Saint Rose (Sr., F, Albany, N.Y.) - Averaged a
double-double behind 26.5 points and 11 rebounds in a 2-0 week,
while shooting 65.5 percent (19-for-29) from the floor and 15-of-19
from the free throw line. In a 72-54 non-conference win over
Bloomfield, poured in 34 points and hauled in 13 boards. Went
12-for-17 from the floor and buried 10-of-13 shots from the stripe.
Scored 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field and grabbed
nine caroms in a 99-83 triumph over Southern Connecticut.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kristen McWhirter, Stonehill (Fr., F, Melvin Village, N.H.) -
Averaged 13.5 points and three rebounds in a 2-0 week. In a win
over Bryant, scored 17 points off the bench on 4-for-8 shooting.
Then in a win over Merrimack, added 10 points and three rebounds.
For the week, shot 7-for-11 from behind the arc and 6-of-8 from the
free throw line.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Stacy Boisvert, American International (Jr., F, Agawam, Mass.) -
Averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week. Recorded a
double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Pace and
tallied 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and a 7-for-10
showing at the free throw line against UMass Lowell.
Alexis Castro, American International (Sr., F, Chula Vista,
Calif.) - Averaged 19 points, 11.5 rebounds and three assists in a
1-1 week. Netted 24 points with 15 boards and four assists in a
victory over Pace and scored 14 points with eight rebounds at UMass
Lowell.
Kristy McLean, Bentley (Jr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - In a 1-1
week, averaged 13.5 points, six rebounds, three steals and 2.5
assists. Shot 50 percent overall, made three of eight
three-pointers and made four of four free throws. Against
Assumption, filled the stat sheet with 19 points (7-11 FG, 3-5
3FG), six rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Lynne-Ann Kokoski, Bryant (Sr., G , Hatfield, Mass.) - Scored 25
points against Stonehill despite an 87-75 loss. Went 11-for-16 from
the line and 7-of-12 from the field while collecting four rebounds
and dishing out six assists.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port,
England) - Averaged 18 points, 4.5 assists, four steals and 1.5
blocked shots in a 2-0 week. Made 56.5-percent (13-23) shots from
the field, including 41.7-percent (5-12) from three-point range,
while converting 5-of-6 (83.3%) free-throw attempts for the week.
In the win versus Saint Michael’s, recorded 17 points, six
assists and five steals. Posted 19 points (15 first half), three
assists, three steals and two blocked shots in the win over Saint
Anselm.
Josie Lidke, Franklin Pierce (Sr., F, Chaska, Minn.) - Averaged
16.5 points, five rebounds and 1.5 steals in a 2-0 week. Made
70.6-percent (12-of-17) shots from the field, including 9-of-11
(81.8%) from three-point range for the week. Scored 18 of her 23
points in the second half in the win over Saint Michael's, while
connecting on 7-of-8 three-pointers, while making 8-of-9 shots
overall, to go with five rebounds. Posted ten points, five rebounds
and two steals in win at Saint Michael's
Revital Carmon, UMass Lowell (Jr., C, Bat-Yam, Israel) - Averaged
12.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Highlighted the week
with 16 points and 20 rebounds in a 72-66 win at Southern
Connecticut.
Jen Valente, UMass Lowell (So., F, Prospect, Conn.) - Averaged
14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting .556 from the field
(10-18) and 1.000 from the line (7-7) in a 2-0 week. Registered 11
points and nine rebounds in a 72-66 win at Southern Connecticut.
Followed with an 18 point and six rebound performance in the 59-57
win over American International.
Stephanie Klingele, Pace (Sr., G, Staten Island, N.Y.) - Averaged
18 points, 2.5 rebounds and three assists in a 1-1 week. Totaled
eight points and two rebounds against American International.
Tallied 28 points and six triples, while shooting 10-for-14 from
the field in a win over Le Moyne. Chipped in three rebounds and
five assists in the win.
Taylor Losey, Pace (So., F, Bristol, Conn.) - Averaged 15 points,
3.5 boards and three steals while shooting 9-for-17 from the field
in a 1-1 week. Totaled 16 points, three boards and three steals
against American International. Tallied 14 points, four rebounds
and three steals in a win over Le Moyne.
Dana Brown, Saint Rose (Jr., G, Elmont, N.Y.) - Averaged 20.5
points, four assists and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. In a 72-54
non-conference victory over Bloomfield, tossed in 14 points to go
with four boards and three helpers. Finished with 27 points in a
99-83 triumph over Southern Connecticut. Hit 9-of-16 from the floor
and went 5-for-10 from beyond the arc while adding five
assists.
Lynsey Timbrouck, Saint Rose (Fr., G, Kingston, N.Y.) - Averaged
eight points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. In a
72-54 non-conference victory over Bloomfield, knocked down 4-of-6
shots from the floor and finished with eight points, three assists
and two boards. Contributed eight points, six assists and five
rebounds in a 99-83 triumph over Southern Connecticut.
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) -
Averaged 26 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and two assists per
game over two games last week. Scored 14 points, grabbed five
rebounds, dished out three assists and recorded a steal against
UMass Lowell. Tallied 38 points, eight rebounds, six steals, one
block and one assist at Saint Rose.
Kelsey Simonds, Stonehill (Jr., F, Middleboro, Mass.) - Averaged
20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and two assists in a pair of
wins last week. In the 87-75 win over Bryant, scored 27 points
while adding eight rebounds, five blocks and three steals. Was
5-for-10 from the field and 17-of-19 from the free throw line. Then
in a win over Merrimack, scored 14 points and record two blocks.
For the week shot 10-of-17 from the field and 21-of-24 from the
free throw line.
Erika Stupinski, Stonehill (Sr., G, Topsham, Maine) - Averaged 11
points, 11 assists and 4.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week. Had 15 points,
nine assists and five rebounds in the 87-75 win over Bryant. Then
in a win over Merrimack, recorded seven points, four rebounds and
13 assists in a 76-45 win. For the week, shot 3-for-5 from behind
the arc and 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Weekly Notes:
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL: With her 14 points
against UMass Lowell on Saturday, Alexis Castro became the 17th
player in program history to score 1,000 points.
BENTLEY: The Bentley women played their 1,000th
game all-time on Tuesday and recorded the 800th win in the
program's history four days later, becoming only the second NCAA
Division II institution, and the seventh in any division, to reach
that plateau.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: On Saturday at Saint Rose, senior
guard Michelle Martinik played in her 126th career game, the most
by any player in school history. In the same game, senior forward
Kate Lynch hit her 628th career field goal, also a program record.
She needs just nine more points to become the school’s
all-time leading scorer.
STONEHILL: In the win over Bryant, Stonehill set
a school record with 45 attempts from the free throw line. Erika
Stupinski had a season-high 13 assists in the win over Merrimack
which is only two off her own school record. This is the second
time this season Stonehill has won nine games in a row.
