Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Kelsey Simonds, Stonehill (Jr., F, Middleboro, Mass.) – Was
named the NE-10 Tournament MVP after averaging 20 points, 6.7
rebounds and three blocks per game during the tournament. Capped
the three game performance with a 22-point, five rebound, five
assist performance in the 90-79 win over Bryant.
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Logan Lentz, Southern Connecticut (Fr., G, Chambersburg, Pa.) -
Scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists
in the overtime loss at Stonehill in the NE-10 Quarterfinal.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Molly Griffiths, Assumption (Fr., F, Walpole, Mass.) - In the NE-10
Quarterfinal versus Bryant, scored 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting
and 4-of-5 from behind the arc.
Cara Johnson, Bryant (Jr., G, Endicott, N.Y.) - Averaged 17 points
and 5.7 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week in the NE-10 Tournament,
while shooting 43 percent from the field (18-42). Scored in double
figures in all three games, including a 21-point, seven-rebound
effort against Franklin Pierce. Went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc
and went 9-for-11 from the line.
Lynne-Ann Kokoski, Bryant (Sr., G, Hatfield, Mass.) - Averaged 10
assists per game in a 2-1 week in the NE-10 Tournament. Averaged
six points and three rebounds per game and dished out 30
assists.
Kelsey O'Keefe, Bryant (So., F, Warren, Mass.) - Averaged 20.7
points and 8.7 rebounds per game in a 2-1 week in the NE-10
Tournament. Scored double-doubles against both Assumption (15 pts.,
10 rebs) and Franklin Pierce (20 pts., 10 rebs) before scoring 27
points and adding six rebounds against Stonehill. Recorded four
blocks on the week while shooting at a 40 percent clip (23-58) from
the floor and going 10-for-12 from the line.
Jennifer Leedham, Franklin Pierce (Jr., G, Ellesmere Port, England)
- Averaged 15 points, three rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and a
blocked shot in a 1-1 week for the 17th-ranked Ravens in the NE-10
Tournament. Posted 17 points (4-8 3s), four assists and two blocked
shots in quarterfinal win over Le Moyne. Added 13 points, four
rebounds, three assists and two steals in semifinal setback to
Bryant.
Johannah Leedham, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Ellesmere Port, England)
- Averaged 23.5 points, six rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and a
blocked shot in a 1-1 week in the NE-10 Tournament. Led all scorers
with 30 points (11-of-23 FGs, 6-8 FTs) to go with six rebounds,
four assists, two steals and a blocked shot in semifinal loss to
Bryant. Posted 17 points, six rebounds, three steals and a block in
quarterfinal win over Le Moyne.
Rochelle Johnson, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Norwalk, Conn.) -
Tallied 13 points, six rebounds and two steals in the overtime,
quarterfinal loss at Stonehill.
Kate Lynch, Southern Connecticut (Sr., F, Rumford, R.I.) - Scored
18 points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded four steals in the
overtime, quarterfinal loss at Stonehill.
Erika Stupinski, Stonehill (Sr., G , Topsham, Maine) - Scored 23
points and dished out 11 assists as Stonehill earned their first
NE-10 title since 1998. For the week, averaged 12.3 points, nine
assists and three steals.
Weekly Notes:
BENTLEY: Bentley earned its 25th NCAA tournament
berth, extending its own Division II record. No one else has
participated in more than 22. Kim Brennan (Locust Valley, N.Y.)
became the sixth player in school history to earn NE-10 Freshman of
the Year honors, the first since 1999. The Falcons enter the NCAAs
needing one win to extend their NCAA Division II record string of
consecutive 20-win seasons to 25.
SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT: Senior forward Kate Lynch (Rumford,
R.I.) finishes her career as SCSU's all-time leader in points
(1,779), field goals made (650) and free-throw percentage (.803:
407-for-507). Senior forward Rochelle Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.)
finishes her career as SCSU's all-time leader in blocked shots
(93). Senior guard Michelle Martinik (Monroe, Conn.) finishes her
career as SCSU's all-time leader in games played (129). Lynch set
school single-season records for points per game (21.8), field
goals attempted (522) and free throws made (169). Senior guard
Kaylie Schiavetta (Northport, N.Y.) set a school single-season
record for free-throw percentage (minimum 50 attempts) at .863
(69-for-80).
STONEHILL: Claimed the Northeast-10 Tournament
Title for the first time since 1998 with a 90-79 win over
Bryant.
