Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

STONEHILL: Stonehill, the top-ranked team in the IWLCA Division II national poll for the fourth straight week, clinched its fifth straight unbeaten Northeast-10 regular season with Saturday's win at Saint Anselm, as the Chieftains won or shared all seven regular season league titles since 1999. Stonehill has now won 48 straight conference regular season matches dating back to April 2000 and is 61-1 all-time in Northeast-10 regular season play since 1999. Sunday's win over seventh-ranked Philadelphia University was Stonehill's fourth over a ranked opponent this season and enabled the Chieftains to match the school record for single-season victories with 17, a mark first established during the 2003 NCAA Division II national championship campaign. Stonehill brings a school-record 23-match winning streak that dates back to April 2004 into the post-season. Junior M Erin Acone (Bow, N.H.), the reigning Northeast-10 Player of the Year, became the fourth player in Stonehill history (and the third this season alone) to reach the 200 career-point plateau with six points in Saturday's victory at Saint Anselm, as she joins senior teammates Colby Confer (Madison, Conn.) and Colette Carpenter (Massapequa, N.Y.) in reaching that mark during the 2005 season. The trio joins former Chieftain standout Katie Lambert in that exclusive club. Stonehill boasts seven players with at least 40 points on the season, as the Chieftains have set a school record for goals in a campaign with 331 to date, breaking the previous mark of 287 set during the 2003 national championship season. Junior G Lauren Stone (Guilderland, N.Y.), the reigning Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, remains the national leader in both goals against average and saves percentage and tied the school record for single season victories (15) with Sunday's triumph over Philadelphia University. Freshman A Christa LaRocco (West Islip, N.Y.) netted a career-high four goals and an assist for five points in Saturday's win over Saint Anselm. Stonehill will host the Northeast-10 championships for the seventh straight season this weekend, as the Chieftains face the winner of the Saint Michael's/Assumption quarterfinal round match in semi-final play on Saturday…MERRIMACK: Merrimack set a program record with its 11th win on Thursday, marking the second consecutive year the team has broken the school record for wins. Merrimack went 10-6 last year. Katie Lambert has turned Merrimack's program around in just two years, compiling a 21-9 record in her first two seasons as head coach. Alison Colarusso tied her own school record for goals in a season on Thursday, scoring three in a win over Southern Connecticut to bring her season total to 61. Colarusso has a career high 77 points, which ranks second on Merrimack's all-time last. She needs 12 more points to tie the record for points in a season…SAINT MICHAEL’S: With two assists at Assumption on Friday, senior Lauren Piekarski (East Sandwich, Mass.) moved into a tie for second in program history with 42 career assists. She is seven assists shy of matching the all-time mark, and needs two more goals to become the fourth 100-goal scorer in team history. Classmate Jess Anderson (Springfield, Mass.) earned her 30th career win against Saint Anselm on Thursday, eclipsing the program record previously held by Lisa Kendall '87…ASSUMPTION: Assumption clinched the 5th seed in this week’s Northeast-10 playoffs, thanks to a close, but clutch, 12-11 win over Saint Michael’s last Friday night. The two teams will face each other again on Wednesday, this time at fourth seeded Saint Michael’s. The Greyhounds are making their third trip to the Northeast-10 playoffs in four years. Junior midfield Jenny Mongeau (Westboro, MA/Westboro) has eclipsed the 150-goal mark in her career and, at her current pace, will become the first Assumption player to score 200 career goals…SAINT ANSELM: The Hawks have qualified for the NE-10 playoffs for the second straight year and fourth out of the last five seasons…AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL: Freshman Shannon Burke (Billerica, Mass.) set an AIC single-season school record for points in a season with 48 (38 goals, 10 assists). Her mark eclipses the previous school record of 46 points set by Corrie Ackerley in 2001. Classmate Caitlin Mooney (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished the season with the third-highest single-season point total in program history, notching 36 goals and nine assists for 45 points…SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE: The Penmen closed out their second season as a varsity team with an overall record of 6-8 and finished tied for sixth in the NE-10 (4-6). Joy totaled a team-high 29 goals and 41 points, while Downey led the team in assists (13) and ranked second in goals (20) and points (33). After scoring just one goal during the 2004 season, senior Mary Behrens (Pearl River, NY) ranked third on the team in goals (15) and points (17) this year…FRANKLIN PIERCE: Junior Courtney Boardman set a new program single season mark for goals in a season with her five markers versus Saint Anselm on Tuesday.
