Northeast-10 Player of the Week
Gabriela Demoner, Franklin Pierce (Sr., M, Curitiba, Brazil)
– Led the team to a pair of NCAA Tournament wins this past
weekend, netting four goals for eight points. Scored three of the
Ravens four goals in the 4-0 opening round victory over Holy
Family. Scored in the 3-0 win over Bryant in the second round.
Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week
Brittany Ester, Franklin Pierce (Jr., GK, Toms River, N.J.) - Did
not concede a goal over two NCAA Tournament matches this past
weekend, averaging three saves per match. Made two saves in the 4-0
victory over Holy Family. Stopped four shots in the 3-0 win at
Bryant. Has not allowed a goal in four postseason matches (380
minutes).
Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week
Kelly Weygand, Franklin Pierce (Fr., D, Bridgewater, Mass.) -
Collected three assists and led a Franklin Pierce defensive unit
which posted back-to-back shutouts in two NCAA Tournament matches
over the weekend. Had an assist in the 4-0 victory over Holy
Family, also helping hold the Tigers to just two shots in the
match. Dished two assists in the 3-0 win at Bryant.
Weekly Honor Roll:
Mackenzie Bulych, Franklin Pierce (So., F, Regina, Saskatchewan) -
Collected a goal and assist for three points in a pair of NCAA
Tournament wins this past weekend. Netted a goal in the 3-0 victory
at Bryant. Dished an assist in the 4-0 victory over Holy
Family.
Jenna Giardina, Franklin Pierce (Sr., M, Pittsfield, Mass.) -
Totaled a goal and assist for three points in a pair of NCAA
Tournament wins this past weekend. Netted the match-winning goal in
the 3-0 victory at Bryant. Dished an assist in the 4-0 opening
round victory over Holy Family.
Jamie Gillis, UMass Lowell (So., GK, North Billerica, Mass.) -
Stopped six shots in the 1-0 setback to Merrimack in the NCAA
Tournament New England Region first round.
Ashley Alnwick, Merrimack (Fr., D, Groton, Mass.) - Scored the
game-winning tally off a corner kick in Merrimack's 1-0 win over
UMass Lowell in the NCAA First Round.
Shannon Rowan, Merrimack (Sr., GK, Fair Haven, N.J.) - Stopped nine
shots and posted one shutout in two matches this past weekend at
the NCAA Tournament.
Sami Brown, Saint Rose (Jr., F, Richland, Wash.) - Recorded four
points on two goals in a 3-1 victory over Merrimack in the second
round of the NCAA Tournament. Scored in the 11th minute from
15-yards out and also added an insurance marker in the 86th
minute.
Ashley McGuire, Saint Rose (Sr., M, Fishkill, N.Y.) - Scored the
game-winner in the 82nd minute to lead Saint Rose past Merrimack,
3-1, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Lauren Steinberg, Saint Rose (Sr., GK, Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) -
Made five saves and yielded only a first half goal in the 3-1
victory over Merrimack in the second round of the NCAA
Tournament.
Weekly Notes:
FRANKLIN PIERCE: Advanced to the NCAA Division II New
England Region Championship for the 12th-straight year with
Sunday's 3-0 win over Bryant. Junior goalkeeper Brittany Ester and
the Ravens defensive unit has yet to allow a goal in postseason
play (380 minutes). Senior All-American Gabriela Demoner became the
11th player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau for a
career with her three goals against Holy Family on Friday. She
currently ranks tenth in program history with 107 points.
MERRIMACK: Making their eighth appearance in the NCAA
Tournament and sixth in the last seven years, the Warriors won
their third career postseason match and first since 2002.
SAINT ROSE: The Golden Knights advanced to the
Round of 16 for the third time in program history with a 3-1
victory over Merrimack on Sunday in second round action. They are
one of three unbeaten teams in the nation (Division II) as well.
Saint Rose has met Franklin Pierce in the New England Regional
Final all three times it has played in a "Sweet 16" match.
