Bryant Claims Fourth Straight Northeast-10
Women's Tennis Championship


Easton, MA - Bryant University won its fourth straight Northeast-10 Women's Tennis Championship, defeating top-seed Saint Michael's College, 5-3 Sunday afternoon at Stonehill College tennis courts.

The Purple Knights took an early 2-1 lead over the Bulldogs after winning two out of the three double matches to open play. Lindsay Horne and Cara Bednar picked up the win at No. 2 doubles, while teammates Jackie Smullen and Liz Clemente were victorious at No. 3 doubles.

In singles play Bryant's Sacha Solomon won at No. 1 singles in straight sets (6-0, 6-2) as well as Michelle Burke (No. 3, 6-1, 6-0) and Kristen Swanson (No. 4, 6-2, 6-1).  At number 5 singles, Lauren Mullen came back from a 3-6 first set loss to defeat Saint Michael's Megan Conway in the final two sets 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the victory for Bryant.

The Bulldogs will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament May 3-5
