South Easton, Mass. – The field for the 2011 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship was announced on Sunday night, as the University of New Haven, Adelphi University, Stonehill College and Pace University all earned bids to the national tournament.
New Haven (21-6) received the No. 1 seed in the East Region and will host the First Round from November 17-19. The Chargers, who fell in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship to the University of Massachusetts Lowell last week, will draw No. 8 Pace (20-10) in first-round action. New Haven went 15-0 in conference play this fall.
Adelphi (22-7) received the fourth seed in the East after netting its first ever Northeast-10 Championship over the weekend. The Panthers will draw fifth-seeded Stonehill (27-6), whom they recently beat in the conference semifinals on Friday night.
Pace also fell to Adelphi in the first round of Northeast-10 Championship play last week.
All first-round contests at host New Haven will be played this Thursday, Nov. 17. No. 2 Dowling, No. 3 Bridgeport, No. 6 NYIT and No. 7 Caldwell will also compete in the East Region.
