MANSFIELD, Mass. - After winning 7 straight games to open the season and ascending to the #1 National Rank, the LIU Post Field Hockey team has been selected as the NE-10 Team of the Month.
The Pioneers were awarded the honor following a vote the NE-10 conducted on its social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter), in which more than 700 people voted. The vote was the largest the league has had since it began the Team of the Month award during the 2015-16 academic year.
During the month, LIU Post won all seven games they played and outscored their opponents 21-5 during the month. The Pioneers were especially impressive on the road as they posted a perfect 4-0 mark away from home. Among those wins were victories over traditional powers East Stroudsburg, Merrimack, and Stonehill.
The 2016 NE-10 Field Hockey Championship will begin on Tuesday, November 1 with Quarterfinal Round play, with Semis taking place on Friday, Nov. 4th. The Championship will take place on Sunday, November 6, and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. It can be seen at Northeast10.tv
