Adelphi's Marko Jovanovic Repeats as Player of the Year to Highlight Men's Tennis Honors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SNHU with League-High Five Players Earning Seven Selections.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Adelphi's Marko Jovanovic, behind his 8-0 record at No. 1 singles, has repeated as the Northeast-10 Conference Vern Cox Player of the Year - as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon along with the All-Conference teams in men's tennis.

Jovanovic becomes the first player to earn Player of the Year honors in consecutive seasons since Southern New Hampshire's Tiago Fernandes - who won the award in three-straight seasons from 2017 to 2019. He joins Matteo Cannavera (2015, 2016) as the only other Adelphi player to earn multiple nods as NE10 Player of the Year.

Southern New Hampshire led all NE10 programs with five players earning seven All-Conference selections, while Adelphi tallied a league-high four players and four selections on the All-Conference First Team. Adelphi and SNHU were NE10 co-regular season champions, posting 8-2 conference records this season.

Jovanovic was a perfect 8-0 at No. 1 singles this season, leading Adelphi to a share of the regular season title for the second-straight year and the top seed in the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship. Among Jovanovic's conference victories were a pair of wins at No. 1 singles against Southern New Hampshire - once against Jonathan Berling and once against Jesse Den Hartog. He was twice named to the All-Conference First Team this season at both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. He teamed with Thomas Horsley to go 5-0 at the top doubles spot.

Bentley's Ansh Chada was named NE10 Rookie of the Year after a solid freshman campaign, which included three wins at No. 4 singles and five wins at No. 3 doubles in conference matches. Chadha becomes the first Bentley player to earn Rookie of the Year since Lucas Wever in 2010 and just the third player to achieve the feat in program history. One of his best wins of the season came against Franklin Pierce's Preston Gordon in a three-set match at No. 4 singles, as part of Bentley's 5-2 win on April 23. Chadha was also named to the All-Rookie Team.

Franklin Pierce's Alejandro Andres was named Coach of the Year after he led the Ravens to a 6-4 conference record and the No. 3 seed in the NE10 Men's Tennis Championship. Andres is the first coach from Franklin Pierce to ever win the award. With Andres at the helm, the Ravens finished the season on a strong note - defeating top-seeded Adelphi, 4-3, in the regular season finale on April 27. Over the last two weeks of the season, Franklin Pierce went 2-1 against the three other teams that qualified for the NE10 Championship - losing only a 4-3 match against Southern New Hampshire on April 20.

The NE10 Men's Tennis Championship begins on Thursday in its new format, as four teams will compete in the Championship site at Southern New Hampshire. For the full schedule and all other championship information, click HERE

The NE10 Player of the Year award is named in honor of former longtime Springfield College head coach Vern Cox. All-Conference selections are based on record at a given flight and a minimum number of matches that must be played in order to be eligible.
