Four Teams Win Weekly Awards, Bentley Picks Up Big Win

NE10 Player of the Week

Joao Araujo, Franklin Pierce
Grad Student I Forward I Madeira, Portugal


Araujo was the driving force behind Franklin Pierce’s offense last week, playing a crucial role in the team’s comeback 4–3 victory over Saint Michael’s. Araujo was directly involved in three of the four goals, scoring once and assisting twice, including the game-tying and go-ahead tallies. He also generated multiple scoring opportunities in a 0–0 draw against Southern Connecticut State, as the Ravens remain unbeaten in NE10 play. 


NE10 Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Gouvin, Bentley
Junior | Defense I Monson, Mass.


Gouvin had one goal and two assists from his right back position to help Bentley to two wins. In Bentley's victory over No. 2 Southern New Hampshire, he scored the tying goal in the 82nd minute. Gouvin then notched two assists in the 4-1 victory over Saint Michael's on Saturday. He totaled 164 minutes on the pitch as Bentley allowed just two goals, with the goal against Saint Michael's coming with just 28 seconds left.?


NE10 Goalie of the Week

David Hood, Saint Anselm
Senior I Manchester, N.H.

The senior posted two shutouts on the week as the Hawks earned four points with a 1-0 win over Assumption and a scoreless draw with AIC. In the mid-week clash in Worcester, Hood made seven saves to register his fifth clean sheet of the campaign as the Hawks defeated the Greyhounds for the second time this season. In Saturday's clash against the Yellow Jackets, Hood made eight stops for his sixth shutout of his senior season. Hood now ranks first in shutouts, first in save percentage (.895), second in goals against average (.675), and third in saves per game (5.67).


NE10 Rookie of the Week

Diego Flores, SCSU
Freshman | Goalkeeper | Nesonset, N.Y.

Flores has been instrumental to the Owls success this week. The rookie goalkeeper has pitched six straight shutouts dating back to Sept. 23. Those six shutouts tie him for first in the conference with David Hood. Across this season, Flores has tallied 33 saves good for a .825 save percentage. His seven goals allowed puts him at second least in the NE10. Along with that, Flores has not allowed a goal since Sept. 19 against Southern New Hampshire University

This week Flores tallied three saves in two matches against American International College and Franklin Pierce University.
