HOPKINGTON, N.H. – Southern Connecticut women's cross country's
Courtney Henchcliffe won the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country Regional to lead the Owls to their second regional championship in program history.
Henchliffe is the first SCSU women's crosscountry winner to win an individual regional championship in program history. The Owls captured their second regional championship in three seasons as three runners placed in the Top 10.
Henchcliffe crossed the finish line with a personal-best time of 21:29.00, almost 10 seconds ahead of the second place runner from Roberts Wesleyan.
PJ Dauphinais was third at 21:46.15, which was also her personal-best time, and freshman
Rae Geddes finished eighth with a personal-best time of 22:27.48.
In addition to the three Owls in the top 10,
Erin Sola was 15
th with a personal-best time of 22:58.46 followed by
Abigail Bajorek in 17
th place with a personal-best of 23:03.65.
Southern Connecticut men's cross country won its fourth-straight NCAA Division II East Regional Championship while Jonathon Volpe became the first SCSU cross country runner to win a individual regional championship in program history.
The Owls (34 pts.) dominated the field, winning by 72 points over second place Roberts Wesleyan (106) as Southern placed four runners in the top six. Volpe led the way with a 32-second victory. The Owls senior posted a time of 31:02.78, finishing ahead of the second-place runners time of 31:34.82. He previously finished second in 2023 and third in 2022. He also finished 10
th in 2021 as a freshman.
Colton Sallum finished third at 31:42.60 followed by
John Glidden in fifth at 32:13.27 and Nathanael Huebner in sixth at 32:14.26.
Frankie Porrini finished 19
th at 33:03.22 while
Sean Barkasy was 27
th at 33:29.65.
The Owls advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships on Nov. 22 at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisc.
Other notable NE10 finishes in Hopkinton included Franklin Pierce's men placing third, just ahead of Saint Michael's in fourth. Only Roberts Wesleyan snuck ahead of the pair from outside the NE10. SNHU's Dillon Labonte had the best non-SCSU finish for the conference, placing fourth individually. Showcasing the team's strong depth, Franklin Pierce took third without a runner finishing in the top to. Gunner Currier had the best Ravens time, slotting 12th.
Saint Anselm had the second-best NE10 finish in the women's 6K coming in seventh. The conference swept seventh through 10th in the standings. Bentley saw a pair of awesome individuals runs from Lily Tedford and Sam Doran, crossing the tape in fifth and sixth.
