NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- For the third straight season, Franklin Pierce's Ravens Sports Network will be on the road the NCAA DII men's and women's soccer championships this weekend. FPU students Erik Valdovinos and Elliot Scholes traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. to live stream all six games this weekend in Spanish.
RSN first broadcast the 2023 NCAA semifinals in spanish, following the FPU men's run to a second consecutive NCAA championship. The crew returned to action last year with the FPU women in action and are following the women's team again this fall.
"It meant so much honestly," Valdovinos said in an FPU rpess release in 2023. "My family lives in Mexico, so I know what it's like for (my teammates) to have family that wants to listen and watch their games. Obviously, their families aren't familiar with English; neither are mine. So being able to be the person that can kind of show their families their kids playing and also commentate on them is something that was honestly an amazing experience. I would love to keep doing it."
The 2023 editions of the RSN broadcasts were the first Spanish live streams of the NCAA men's and women's DII soccer semifinals and finals on record.
