NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Pace softball star Gisselle Garcia was named Academic All-American on Tuesday, picking up another award after being named an All-American for her play on the field and the NE10 and East Region Pitcher of the Year.
Garcia was one of two Division II pitchers selected to the First Team, as chosen by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). This is Garcia's first selection to the team.
The league's ace pitcher this spring, Garcia posted career-bests with a 0.73 ERA, a 30-6 record, six saves and 400 strikeouts. She ends her career as the NE10 career strikeout leader and the first pitcher in league history to eclipse 1,000 K's while pitching at an NE10 school while it is in the NE10.
Thirteen of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division II softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.93.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
