NE10 Partners with Officially Human to Support Game Officials

Officially Human was Founded in 2019

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The Northeast 10 Conference has partnered with Officially Human, an organization whose mission is to "restore respect to game officials and recognize them as authorities on the fields and courts", as announced on Thursday. 

"The Northeast 10 is excited to partner with Officially Human to support its mission of creating more civil environments during athletics competitions," said Julie Ruppert, NE10 Commissioner. "We want to be a part of the solution in addressing the current referee crisis, which impacts athletics at all ages. It is crucial that we, as a conference, help to grow officiating as a profession to ensure the stability of the sports that we love. The NE10 is committed to this mission."

Officially Human was founded by Brenda Hilton, who has spent over 20 years in college athletics working with sports officials from the mid-majors to the highest level of Division I.

“I commend Commissioner Ruppert and her staff for taking this important step in raising awareness on sportsmanship and “humanizing” sports officials across the conference," said Hilton. "We look forward to seeing some of the great initiatives the conference institutes this year."

The Lombard, Illinois-based organization was founded in 2019 to restore respect to, and positive treatment of, sport officials through increased education and communication to all stakeholders (administrators, coaches, athletes, and fans).

The NE10 will provide each member institution access to resources created by Officially Human throughout the partnership. Videos and other informational items designed to help better educate and inform student-athletes, coaches, and fans will be highlighted throughout the membership.
