2026 Northeast 10 XC Championship Preview

SCSU Looking to Repeat on Men's and Women's Side

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - For the first time in Northeast 10 history, Adelphi is set to host the conference cross country championship this weekend, calling all league runners to Bethpage State Park Saturday.  The men's race leads off at 11 AM with the women running at 12:15.  Coverage will be live streamed on FloCollege ($).

Those traveling to Long Island should search 'Bethpage Polo at the Park' on their GPS to find the Championship.  Parking can be purchased in advance here.

Southern Connecticut State is the defending champion on both the men's and women's side.  The Owls have won four consecutive men's titles and two of three for the women.  Both Owls clubs were selected preseason as the championship favorites.

The competition for top men's runner is razor thin ... literally.  Bentley's Hayden MacArthur carries the top 2026 8k time into the 8k championship run.  He beat SCSU's Colton Sallum head-to-head at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational by one one-hundredth of a second with a 24:39.32 time.  Sallum, however, has two of the top three 8k races in the conference this fall.

The top two women from last year's NE10 Championship have moved on, leaving an open fight at the top of the leaderboard.  SCSU's PJ Dauphinais and Bentley's Lily Tedford and Sam Doran crossed 3-4-5 in 2025 and return this fall.  The top performer this season, however, has been SCSU's Erin Sola, who was seventh a year ago.  Molloy transfer Kathleen Healy headlines a strong crew for hosting Adelphi, which boasts two of the top six runners by 6k time in the conference this fall.

Other notable names to watch include Assumption's Joshua Phinney, who won the Keene State Invitational and SNHU's Erika Wojcik, who won the Shacklette Invitational 2-Mile effort.  When breaking down pace per kilometer, MacArthur had the best performance in the league this fall at 3:04.5 at the recent Penmen Mini-Meet (5K), gearing up at the right time.  Bentley's Tedford had the top per kilometer pace on the women's side, running at a 3:34.9 clip at the Penmen Mini-Meet as well (3K).  Tedford won the race, followed by Franklin Pierce rookie Erin O'Shea.  SNHU rookie Wallace was runner-up on the men's side.  The Assumption, Bentley, FPU and SCSU men all had a runner finnish a race in the top three over the course of the year.  The Adelphi, Bentley, Pierce, SNHU, Saint Anselm (Breanna Woodbury) and Saint Michael's (Jersey Miller) women each had a top three finisher in a race this fall.
