Adelphi's Goodrich Named Player of the Year; Women's Soccer Awards Announced

Franklin Pierce Wins Three Major Honors

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - For the second time in her career, Adelphi's Kayleigh Goodrich has been named Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year - highlighting the announcement of women's soccer all-conference honors on Wednesday afternoon by the league office. Franklin Pierce, NE10 regular season champion, led all programs with three major award winners.

Goodrich becomes the first NE10 player to win Player of the Year multiple times since Franklin Pierce's Gabriela Demoner (2007 and 2009). She won for the first time in 2024. Goodrich scored a league-high 16 goals for the Panthers this season, ranking third in all of Division II in goals per game (1.14). She tallied at least one goal in 10 of 14 games, including a pair of hat tricks against Monroe (Sept. 4) and Holy Family (Sept. 9). Adelphi has now produced Player of the Year in three of the past five seasons (Madison Apicella in 2022).

Franklin Pierce had a trio of major award winners, including Aino Martikainen - who became a three-time Defensive Player of the Year. She is only the second player to earn the distinction, as Merrimack's Kathryn Barkman was a four-time winner. Martikainen leads a defense that has surrendered only 12 goals in 17 games. Her teammate Jess LaCroix was named Goalkeeper of the Year, the first Ravens' player to ever win the award. LaCroix had nine shutouts and a 0.67 goals against average.

Matt Johnson was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time (second time at Franklin Pierce) after leading the Ravens to the NE10 regular season title and the top seed in the NE10 Championship. Franklin Pierce has a 13-2-2 record and is the No. 6 in the latest national rankings.

Pace's Alyssa Blanchette is Rookie of the Year after ranking fifth in points (21) among all NE10 players. She is the first Pace player to ever win the award.

Franklin Pierce had a league-high seven selections to All-Conference teams, including five on the First Team. Bentley, Saint Michael's and Southern Connecticut all had five.
