Van Valkenburgh and Reitmeyer Named NE10 Players of the Year

Ravens OF is First Rookie and Player of the Year Winner in Same Season

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The Franklin Pierce Ravens keep making history, following their first NE10 regular season title, with freshman Camryn Van Valkenburgh becoming the first Northeast 10 softball player to win both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year in the same season.  The outfielder splits the league's top honor with Saint Anselm's Rose Reitmeyer, who broke her school's season home run record this spring and ranks among the nation's power leaders.

Van Valkenburgh led the NE10 with a .455 batting average this season while also going 24-25 stealing bases.  She was 25th nationally in batting average and 33rd in on-base percentage.  Her stolen base percentage ranked 11th in DII.

Reitmeyer, meanwhile, blasted 16 home runs, leading the league and checking in with almost double the next closest contender (nine).  Her 54 runs batted in rank second to FPU's Alicia Ott by just a single tally.  Reitmeyer ended the regular season ranked 14th nationally in homers, 34th in RBI, and 18th in total bases.  She also displayed that power without losing her efficiency, hitting .377 for the season.

Van Valkenburgh is the second Raven to win Player of the Year after Ashley Cangiano in 2023.  Reitmeyer is the first Hawk to do so since Bre Klaiber was the Northeast Division Player of the Year in 2021.  Van Valkenburgh's Rookie of the Year honor is also the second win for the FPU program, following Cangiano in 2021.

Julianna Colbert was given the league's top pitching honor, named NE10 Pitcher of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches.  With 215 strikeouts, Colbert tanked seventh nationally.  She also pitched to one of the top 30 ERA's in Division II, finishing the regular season with a 17-7 record and a 1.78 ERA.

The final major honor in the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, awarded to Pace infielder Faith Scally.  She is the first Setter to win the award, given to student-athletes in the NE10 since 2016.

Overall, NE10 Champion Franklin Pierce earned seven all-conference selections with second-place Adelphi picking up five -- including both members of the team's starting battery landing on the first time: Maddy Moore and Jenna Plue. All 10 members of the conference had at least one student-athlete named all-league.
