MANSFIELD, Mass. - In 2023-24 the Southern Connecticut State Owls completed the men's and women's cross country/indoor track & field/outdoor track & field championship sweep. SCSU continued that success with a women's cross country title this fall and is now primed for more indoor success, voted by the Northeast-10 Conference coaches to win both indoor titles again this winter.
The Owls women received seven of nine first-place votes while the men captured six of eight. The men's team won its seventh consecutive title last winter and, in doing so, won nine of 18 scored events. Their win was the biggest since 2020. The SCSU women won their first title since 2011 in '24 and made it a one-school indoor sweep for just the fifth time in NE10 history.
Key women's champions Ella Maclean (60m, 200m) and Hannah Caiola (400m) lead the returning Owls. Last year's NE10 Championship MVP, Franklin Pierce's Stephen Harris, headlines big returners on the men's side. Harris won the 60m, 200m and High Jump in 2024.
New Haven saw the most predicted success beyond SCSU with a second-place pick on the men's side and a third-place nod in the women's poll. Southern New Hampshire split SCSU and New Haven while also receiving a first-place vote. Franklin Pierce (men's) and Saint Anselm (men's and women's) also received one first-place vote each.
The 2024-25 Indoor Track & Field schedule begins this weekend and culminates at the TRACK at New Balance February 22nd and 23rd.
