Women's Soccer 11/12/2025 12:00:00 PM Brookes, Laizer from Saint Michael's Highlight Women's Soccer Awards Saint Anselm's Lee Moyce Named Coach of the Year. NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Scarlett Brookes made history on Wednesday by becoming the first player from Saint Michael's to ever win Northeast 10 Conference Player of the Year, as the league office announced All-Conference honors for women's soccer. Brookes was joined by teammate Chloe Laizer among major award winners, as Laizer - a freshman - earned Goalkeeper of the Year. She is the first goalie from Saint Michael's to win the honor since Azzie Kouadis in the 1989 season. Franklin Pierce's Samantha Breton won Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the second consecutive Ravens' player to win the honor behind two-time recipient Aino Martikainen (2022, 2024). Assumption's Elizabeth Schoeneberger was tabbed Rookie of the Year, while Saint Anselm's first-year head coach Lee Moyce was picked by his peers as Coach of the Year. Saint Anselm, the NE10 regular season champion and top seed in the Women's Soccer Championship, finished with a league-high eight All-Conference selections, while Franklin Pierce had seven and Saint Michael's had six. Adelphi and Pace both had five. Brookes is in the midst of an incredible sophomore season, as she currently leads the NE10 in goals (12) and is tied for the lead in points (29). She scored a point in 12 of 15 games and ranks ninth nationally in goals per game (0.8) in a resurgent year for Saint Michael's. Laizer, in her first collegiate season, led the NE10 in minutes played (1,624), goals against average (.665) and shutouts (9). Both players helped lead the Purple Knights to 16-2-1 record and the No. 3 seed in the NE10 Championship. Breton highlighted one of the NE10's toughest defenses this season, as Franklin Pierce allowed only 0.83 goals per game to opponents on average. She contributed one goal and two assists for the reigning NE10 champions, on their way to securing the No. 2 seed in the Championship. Schoeneberger provided an offensive spark for Assumption this season, leading all NE10 freshmen in scoring with 18 points on seven goals and four assists. She is the first Greyhounds' player to win the award since Kallie Villemaire in 2015. Behind its first regular season title since 1994, Moyce led Saint Anselm to its best finish in three decades with a 10-3-2 record - including its first undefeated conference season (7-0-2) in 31 years. He is the first Hawks' coach to earn Coach of the Year since Steve Clifford back in 1988. For a full list of All-Conference recipients, please see below.
